Chapter 408 The Death of the Prime Minister
Ahhh!
A miserable scream permeated the air as the sword light cleaved the old man into pieces, scattering his body everywhere, leaving nothing intact.
Those who had been terrified by the deadly palm attack earlier were stunned. Their hearts pounded heavily in their chests as the sudden appearance of the horrifying sword light and the old man's gruesome death sent cold shivers down their spines.
They stared at the scattered remains of the old man's body and trembled in fear.
Slowly, they turned their gaze toward the quiet Celestial Heavenly Store and sucked in a cold breath. In their minds, only one thought echoed:
'The Store is scary.'
The death of such a powerful expert made them realize that they were mere ants compared to the Celestial Heavenly Store.
Without speaking to one another, the people dispersed one by one, carrying the tale of what they had witnessed, ready to spread the news.
However, that wasn't the end. At the two other Celestial Heavenly Stores, the same terrifying sword light appeared, cleaving the other two Half-Step Grandmasters into pieces.
From beginning to end, the Half-Step Grandmasters had no chance to display their skills before their deaths.
Quickly, the Clear Wind City was buzzing with rumors. Within minutes, the news of the miserable deaths of the three Half-Step Grandmasters had spread like wildfire.
---
Inside the City Lord Mansion, the City Lord froze, his heart pounding furiously. He had just received the news of the deaths of the three Half-Step Grandmasters and was terrified.
*A single strike!* he thought in disbelief. *How is this possible?!* he cried inwardly.
"What is going on?" the Prime Minister demanded coldly.
Since the City Lord's butler had entered and whispered something to him, the City Lord's countenance had changed drastically.
The Prime Minister had noticed but hadn't paid it much attention—until now.
Seeing the Prime Minister's frown, the City Lord forcefully swallowed the lump in his throat and cleared it a few times.
"My Lord…" His voice trailed off, unsure of how to continue.
"Speak!" the Prime Minister commanded icily.
"Ah, yes." Trembling, the City Lord quickly spoke. "Your three trusted aides… they've been killed."
Boom!
The air inside the hall turned violent, sending the City Lord flying across the room.
"What did you say?!" the Prime Minister's voice reverberated throughout the hall.
The City Lord groaned in pain, blood leaking from the corner of his lips. He raised his head and saw the Prime Minister surrounded by a violent aura, his killing intent suffocating.
*Is this the power of a Grandmaster Martial Artist?!* he screamed internally.
The Prime Minister ignored the City Lord, consumed by fury. His usual calm and indifferent expression had vanished, replaced by a fierce and piercing gaze.
"Come with me," the Prime Minister said, appearing in front of the City Lord and grabbing him by the collar. In a blink, they vanished from the hall.
---
At the central district, pedestrians went about their business while gossiping about the deaths of the three Half-Step Grandmasters.
Many merchants had long deemed the Celestial Heavenly Store a no-go zone, and the area surrounding it had become sacred ground.
Those lining up to buy Spirit Comms remained silent, not daring to speak.
Suddenly, the Prime Minister appeared in the sky above the central district, holding the City Lord by the collar like a child.
"Come out now!"
The Prime Minister's voice echoed across the district, shocking pedestrians and those inside nearby restaurants and stores.
"What's going on?"
"Who is this man?"
"I don't care who he is. What baffles me is why he's holding the City Lord like a child."
A crowd began to gather, their heads raised as they whispered among themselves. Many were confused but desperate to understand what was happening.
In the sky, the Prime Minister's face twisted into a sardonic smile as he observed the growing crowd.
"I will kill everyone in this street if you don't come out right now, and their deaths will be on you," he threatened.
Fear gripped the crowd. Those who had planned to escape suddenly found themselves unable to move as a powerful pressure descended upon them.
"What's happening? Why can't I move?"
"I can't breathe!"
"Why? Why does he want to kill us? We've done nothing to him!"
Despair engulfed the crowd as they struggled against the horrifying pressure.
The City Lord widened his eyes in shock at the unfolding events.
Never in his wildest imagination did he think the Prime Minister would stoop to threatening the Celestial Heavenly Store with innocent lives.
'I'm just cannon fodder,' he thought bitterly.
As the Prime Minister's threat loomed, the tension in the district reached a breaking point. The people prayed silently, hoping the Celestial Heavenly Store would come to their aid.
Suddenly, a calm voice echoed from within the store.
"Are you threatening us?"
Boom!
A powerful gust of wind swept through the district, instantly dispelling the Prime Minister's oppressive pressure and setting the people free.
Hmm!
The Prime Minister frowned, clenching his fists as he prepared for battle.
From the store, a young man in a casual robe emerged. He glanced at the Prime Minister and shook his head.
"Let me play with you," he said playfully, stepping into the air.
As if ascending an invisible staircase, the young man climbed higher into the sky, one step at a time.
Those watching below gawked, their jaws dropping in disbelief.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Mao Hai stopped a few meters from the Prime Minister and asked casually, "Show me what you've got."
The Prime Minister squinted at Mao Hai, his instincts screaming of danger. It felt as though he were standing before a monstrous beast ready to devour him whole.
"I'm the Prime Minister of the Human Kingdom. Who are you, and why did you kill my men?"
The Prime Minister decided to step back, realizing his opponent was more fearsome than expected. He attempted to pressure the young man with his title and the authority of the Human Kingdom.
But Mao Hai's response left him stunned.
"I don't care," Mao Hai replied, folding his arms across his chest. "Are you ready to die?"
What?!
The Prime Minister's fury erupted. The disdain in Mao Hai's voice was unbearable. Experience tales at empire
Without hesitation, he abandoned caution and launched a powerful punch. The space around him trembled as a terrifying, blood-red fist materialized in the sky, racing toward Mao Hai at breathtaking speed.
"Useless trick," Mao Hai muttered, clicking his tongue. With a casual gesture, he sent out a palm strike to meet the incoming attack.
To the crowd below, the palm strike appeared unimpressive compared to the bloody red fist. But to the Prime Minister and City Lord, the power behind it was horrifying.
All the hairs on their bodies stood on end as despair consumed them.
"What kind of power is this?" the Prime Minister thought aloud. "Is this the power of the higher realm?"
Countless questions raced through his mind, but, unfortunately, he wouldn't find the answers in this lifetime.
Without any fanfare, the incoming bloody punch disintegrated into pieces, vanishing into nothingness. However, the nightmare was far from over.
The Prime Minister and City Lord felt a cold breeze on their body and they lowered their head, only to see various cracks on their bodies.
"I don't want to die!" The City Lord screamed but his voice never left his mouth.
