Chapter 80: White horse and poisonous snake
Chapter 80: White horse and poisonous snake
I return Kurogane and Konoha and summon Gale and Yuuga. They increase our movement speed. As we proceeded through the Trent Forest, Yuuga kept an eye on the sky. What appeared from the sky was a bat. However, it was not a small fish. Here's what I identified.
Blood Bat Lv5
Summon Monster Subjugation Target Active
It looks like it's the evolved version after all. Their levels are low, but their numbers are high! But thanks to Yuuga's detection, we'll take the lead!
"Thunder Branch!"
"Aquaball!"
"Gaaa!"
"Water Blade!"
I, Setia and Gale's magic attacks and Ion's water blade attacked the Blood Bats. And Lily and Yuuga kill the poor bats who have fallen paralyzed. Gale and Yuuga leveled up, probably due to the large number.
After that, we arrived at the target cave. Could the bats have come out of here? If so, the entrance would be a bad place to take a break. I think I'll take a break next to the cave.
Now, I summon Gray, Kotetsu, Konoha, Chess, Byakuya and Hiyori by Legion. I also summon Konoha and Chess for dinner.
Today's meal is potato salad and grilled rabbit meat that I've been saving. The rabbit meat is grilled one after another and everyone seems to enjoy it. I was glad to see that Ion also looked good.
But while we were eating outside, something happened. Yes, there are monsters looking at us. And there are two of them. I've never seen both before. No, I knew one of them, but I couldn't identify it. It was a horse. I identified it as a white horse.
It's a beautiful white horse. I feel like I'm being told it'll be a unicorn or a pegasus. I want one of those!
It's time to put my feeding skills to work! But he's not even looking at the grilled rabbit meat, he's staring at the potato salad.
It's a herbivore, right? So I gave it a potato salad. It wags its tail and is happy. Yeah, yeah, it's good.
But then something strange happens. The white horse is still staring at the potato salad. No information. Do I still have to give more to it?
As a result, the potato salad is gone. It's full and goes back to the forest...what? Where's the feeding? Where's the white horse? ...A silence flows over all of us.
S, Sad...and a horrible feeling of defeat...what the heck! It was so happy! And now it's running away!
I've learned the horror of my feeding skill today...by the way, I think I was taught this kind of danger before...
I got myself together and challenged the other one. This one seemed to be after the rabbit meat. It was a snake that came to us. I identified it as a snake. I was able to feed this one easily after giving it meat.
You have successfully fed the snake. You can add it to your companions
I don't know what I'll name it...I never thought I'd have to name a snake. There are many names in mythology and many species. I'd like to use them as references, but there's a risk of them being covered. I'll have to avoid names that have snake origins...I mean, there's the Serpent Bearer. Then it hit me.
Name Sabik Snake Lv1
Vitality 16
Magic Power 2
Strength 10
Defense 6
Agility 8
Dexterity 8
Skills
Bite Lv1
Coiling Lv1
Poison Lv1
Heat Detection Lv1
The name comes from the name of the second brightest star in the Ophiuchus constellation. The reason why it's not the first is because it's hard to call it. For reference, the name is Rasalhague. I'm not sure I can call it that.
As for its status, it's poisonous. It also wraps itself around you, doesn't it? If it wraps around you and bites you, it's over. And the mysterious heat detection. I heard that snakes use heat to find their prey, so maybe that's where it comes from? It's a mysterious skill that I don't know if it will ever come in handy.
So how to organize the cave search...I can't put Sabik back into the summoned stone. Lily, Ion, Setia, Konoha, Kurogane, Yuuga and Gale are fighting. Hiyori is probably not suited for the cave.
That leaves Gray, Kotetsu, Chess and Byakuya. This time, we'll focus on mining, but if we're going to do that, let's do our best to raise Sabik's level.
As soon as we entered the cave, we saw a lot of Blood Bats. I blow them all up with Atmosphere and prepare for my next spell. The survivors come at me, but they're no match for Gray, Kotetsu and Byakuya. Kotetsu and Byakuya are skilled jumpers and in a small space like a cave, flying monsters are not that much of a threat. And since Chess is also a giant, he can hit bats with no problem. I've heard that bears sleep in caves when they hibernate, so in a way, it might be their home ground. I don't know if Chess will hibernate, though.
Then my magic is ready and I activate Splash. Countless water bombs annihilate the Blood Bats. In a small space, splashes are vicious. It's a magic that shoots water bullets in the direction you hold your staff, so it's surprisingly dodgeable, but in a cave, there's no place to run. I'll have to use it aggressively.
And then, Sabik immediately levels up.
He didn't take part in the attack, so his skills didn't increase. But he's up to level 7, so he should evolve in one more level. I'm looking forward to it. I think he'll evolve sooner than expected. Gray, Kotetsu, Chess and Byakuya are also increasing their levels.
I thought I would level up, but after that, we fought many times, but the level did not go up. I guess it's because of the opponent. The opponents were Goblins. There are also Shamans and Thieves, but their levels don't go up. I've killed a lot of them, though. How inexperienced are these guys?
Currently, I'm mining for my goal with Sabik wrapped around my neck. However, I don't feel like I'm living. I don't have the experience of wrapping a snake around my neck. And it's a poisonous snake. But he seems to like it. I can't help it, so I guess I'll be snake charmer style for a while.
The digging is going well. Here's what I got.
Silica: Rarity 2 Material Item Quality E+
Siliceous minerals and rocks. Materials for glass, ceramics and cement.
Limestone: Rarity 2 Material Item Quality E+
A rock that can be heated to obtain lime.
Quartz: Rarity 2 Material Item, Quality E+
Colorless crystal. When processed, it becomes a jewel.
Iron Ore: Rarity 2 Material Item Quality E+
A stone used to make iron.
Quartz and iron ore are hard to find. Apparently, they're rare. I guess that makes sense. Jewelry and iron? I want this. As I'm consumed by greed, Sabik, who's wrapped around my neck, reacts to something. What is it?
"Shaa!"
It leaves my neck and jumps into the empty space. Suddenly...no, he's wrapped around something. Sabik bites into something and it reveals itself. It's a Goblin Thief. Can he turn invisible? But how did Sabik know? Gray didn't seem to be able to react.
Ah! Heat Detection! So this thing that's been disappearing is some kind of distraction? That was a close one. It was ridiculous when I was attacked. I'm sorry for calling it a mystery skill.
The Goblin Thief tried to attack me and Kotetsu and the others tried to attack it, but I stopped them. The Goblin Thief was strangled by his hands and neck and Sabik was biting his neck. It was a perfect match. There was no way I was going to be able to untie it from that position. Unless he had a power like Lily's, he would be able to follow up with a poisonous effect. This was Sabik's first battle. It would be tactless to interfere.
Sabik successfully killed the Goblin Thief and his skill level increased. After that, we continued mining and when we had accumulated enough, we decided to leave. It had been a while since I had mined hard and my skill level had risen quite a bit.
Satisfied, I returned to Freetia, gave the materials to Hephaestus, requested a glass sword and made a contract with Sabik at the Beastmasters Guild. Then I tried to get a horse from the list summon, but failed twice...ugh! That's the last one!
I logged out, leaving behind a frustrated feeling.

Author note:
This was the first time feeding failed. The Horse is a super important summoned beast. There are other settings for this white horse and I couldn't let Takuto get it easily.
Next time, we'll finally get the first info on our first event! In addition, Takuto will have his revenge. I hope you enjoy it.
