Chapter 447 Let Me Down Slowly
[SICARIO]
"None of us can create a portal outside Sicario, kid," Hudhayfah said as he watched the smile fall off Ruru's face sadly. This is not going to be easy for them, but then it wasn't like anything had ever been easy since they left Sicario, yeah?
Ruru looped at Hudhayfah hopefully like that was supposed to make the portals create themselves. She had expected that the borders would be impenetrable but somehow she had also hoped that she would be able to get out and go back to Hawi.
This wasn't what she had imagined and the psycho felt like punching things again. Her mate had mastered the art of testing her patience in more than one way and she knew that this was just another unfortunate incident.
The impossible had happened and yet even then Ruru hadn't realized that she had stopped time. It was strange really how much power she had and how fucked up everything had gotten, but then what else was she supposed to say or do?Nôv(el)B\\jnn
How was she supposed to strike a bargain when she wasn't sure if there was a difference between bad and good at the moment anyway?
She should have been fighting beside Hawi but then the stubborn woman had found a way to take her to safety. Ruru was worried about Hawi's humanity.
Strange as it was for how to be unable to balance the good and evil after all the years of training and cruel patience, Ruru didn't mind. She had loved that psycho like that and she wanted her back.
"What now? Did the ship come through? What was on it? Fuck, they should have let me remain and help in the search for Mbali," Ruru said angrily as she looked around. She was first red and felt like she needed to do more.
"What ship? And what do you mean the search for Mbali?" Elodie asked, the last bit so scary for her as she wanted to know whether the entire time she had been hallucinating or if there is an ounce of truth to it.
Rukiya Greyson was not one to make up crazy stories just to pass time, especially in this time when they were at war and ready to defend themselves against the Russels. Perhaps she was the brightest source of information at the moment.
"Don't tell me that the sailor didn't come with his crew? There was a whole-ass brown military ship that was sent through the portal by Hawi and Malika. It should have arrived. They didn't come?
"You didn't see Captain Andrew and kind Rio?" Ruru asked and they stared at each other as if to ask which part of Rio was kind.
The man they knew was a mouthy protective man who had no regard for protocols, not to mention he was one who didn't mind being the bad guy. It was a crazy setting for them but then wasn't that what life had thrust them into anyway?
There had to be reasons for everything, but Rio being kind was just insanity at best. Or maybe he was a better person? Well, there was no way for them to tell because Rio had proven to be a pain in their asses in the few hours they had known him.
"A ship came through, but it exploded a few minutes later. Everyone on board survived that, but there was nothing like 'kind Rio'. That man is a pain in the ass for all of us," Elodie said and Ruru just chuckled as if she had expected that from Elodie.
"Rio is to Captain Andrew what you are to my Hawi, Kane. Don't worry too much, he will come around once he feels that Sicario is safe for him and his friends. He was kind to us on the ship despite the conditions, you can trust him with your life and he won't disappoint," Ruru said as she looked at Elodie reassuringly.
It felt strange real, being here like this but then Hawi had already worked her magic and sent her home, perhaps there had to be something for her to work on in the back, right?
Moreover, this was the balance they needed, seeing as there was so much power to the sacred island. But was that it or was there something more to this?
Experience tales at empire
"Well maybe that is true, but the one we have seen, is a literal pain," Elodie insisted.
"The ship blew? And the way it was a beautiful ship. Damn… I wonder what Drew thinks of that. Perhaps we should have coated it with protection to keep it from blowing up. The man loved that ship.
"I guess we'll just have to help them rebuild another ship to make up for that one," Ruru said, like there were no potential risks with the sailors. It was heartwarming and relaxing.
But at the same time, it got Elodie wondering if they had read the entire situation wrong or this was another illusion. Lying in a pack that was controlled by magic wasn't an easy task, and Elodie had known that for the longest time so this didn't mean shit.
Or maybe she was just too worried that there would be loopholes. Then again, Hawi had given all the factions one of the best deals ever and there was just no way that anyone would be dumb enough to risk an alliance so great with the Sicarios.
The alliance itself was one to kill for so it was not just another one in the wind.
"You talk highly of them. Are you sure they aren't here to terrorize Sicario? I mean isn't it just odd for them to show up and their ship to blow up like that?" Farida asked and Ruru sighed lightly.
"The ship took us to the middle of the ocean before we made a detour and came back to the shore. It hadn't even been given the chance to slow down before it was thirsty through the portal to land.
"Of course, it would explode. We should have considered that, but then it's already happened. We were so desperate to find Mbali and make things right with the Russels that we didn't think too much of that. Speaking of the ship, can I meet the crew?
"I need to apologize for the ship blowing up. It may have reeked of fish and lots of unfamiliar things but that was like home to them. Who knows how long they have stayed on that ship or even the memories it held for them," Ruru sighed sadly as she got up to take a look at Sicario.
She wanted to make things right because she knew Hawi would blame herself for this too. Rukiya wanted to make sure that everything was alright for the love of her life whether they were away from home or close to home or even at home.
Things had to be made right and this was just one of those moments that a lot was owed. Ruru knew what it meant to have a team that gave her the strength to keep fighting and she had seen Drew, and his crew.
They deserved to be better.
They deserved everything for what they had done with the Savasci knights, they had taken up a possibility that many sailors would have freckled out of especially if they knew they were going to be on board with them.
Perhaps it was the only honor left for them, no?
"What in the fuck is going on here? Why the fuck is everyone frozen in time?" Ruru asked when she stepped out and saw that only the three of them were moving. It was strange seeing Sicario like one of the dystopian realities and it was unsettling, to say the least.
She looked at the people and wondered what it would look like if her people had done shit like this. Whatever the fuck was going on here was not sane and there was no point in playing the game of truth with them. What the hell had truly happened, then?
"This happened because of you," Elodie said calmly as she could.
"Do I have the power to stop time? Goddamn, that means that I can us— wait, I did WHAT?" Ruru asked once the realization hit her and she began taking a better look at the mess before her.
This wasn't right and there was no way that she could have caused this. She loves having powers and magic and shit but now like this. This wasn't what her dreams of a better world looked like.
Oh, but she was staring at Elodie, Hudhayfah, and Farida as if they had to have had some other explanation for this. At least a better explanation because this was pure bullshit to her. It made no sense whatsoever.
"When you were thrust into the portal, your emotions did this, Looks like you were so angry that you stopped time," Hudhayfah explained and Ruru walked over to one of the wolves who was frozen to confirm that this was real.
There were just some things that she refused to believe she was capable of and this was one of them. The age, what the hell was she supposed to make of this at the time? Was it an illusion?
"Well, I was mad at Hawi for sending me through when she was in danger, but… fucking hell. Did I stop time? My mother would have probably been proud of me and thought of me as useful for her and her family," Ruru said, adding the last bit angrily like she had just remembered the worst of things at the moment.
Perhaps family was the one thing that kept them going, no?
"How the fuck do we fix this?"
"You need to take deep breaths and calm down. Then nature will take its course."
"Just fucking great," Ruru sighed frustratedly.
