Chapter 100 - Special Mission
The duel had ended in an unforeseen ending. Everyone initially thought of a senior bullying a junior kind of result, but it was contrary to everyone's expectation. The most inconceivable part was that it ended in an outmatch manner where the newbie was the one who was bullying the veteran.
Everyone was now wary of this newbie. They were thinking of how he didn't think twice when he did that shameless act of kicking the butt of the gold rank adventurer even in the presence of beautiful girls, and the headmaster together with the knight captain was there too!
The scene would forever embed in their minds, especially to Vince. But on his part, it might be the worst nightmare in his waking time.
After the fight, Yman left the dumbfounded faces of the other people as he went together with Ella and the headmaster to have a private talk to her office..
Although Gilion and Ellias didn't like it, they could
not do anything.
Yman together with the headmaster and the beautiful girl arrived at the office.
The room was 25 square meters wide, and in the middle, there was a small square glass table surrounded by sofas. It must be placed there for the purpose of comfortable and lengthy conversation.
He noticed another table positioned at the corner, near the glass wall. And on that table, a golden slate with the headmaster's name was on there together with number of things and writing tools.
Yman placed himself on the sofa opposite the beautiful girl.
Then the headmaster came and served a cup of coffee and a slice of cake for each of them.
She sat on the single sofa on the left side of him and right side from her niece's perspective.
He could feel the slight puzzlement on the face of the girl opposite him. She must be wondering why her aunt — the headmaster had to talk the two of them at the same time. Like her, he too had a slight puzzlement for the same reason. But he guessed it was in accordance with a special mission that he was expecting.
Distracting himself from the fact that at the moment he was too hungry and was not able to eat because of the duel, he rolled his eyes around the room.
The room has a simple design. Aside from the art of a glorious knight slaying a humongous monster and a simple curtain of parmesan color with the design of converging squares, not much feminine vibes that one would expect in a girl's working room. Yet the room was having a relaxed and comfortable ambiance.
One part of the wall was made of sliding glass that was mostly seen in the grand establishments on the Outerworld.
Yman smiled on it, although people here disliked the fact that the Outerworlders saw the piece of metal as deities, their economies were influenced greatly by the Outerworlders product.
Yman glanced outside through the glass window, he noticed the sky started to dim. Just by looking at it, he believed that the current time was at most 4-5 pm.
As of now, he could not get rid of the feeling that this world was from a separate universe than that of earth.
Maybe this world was a twin planet of the earth? That was orbiting around a different sun? Actually, only the advanced country on the Outerworld had the ability to seek the truth. Mostly, the least powerful country and economy was shrouded in mystery.
But who knows what was the truth? Not even in the social media that news about outer space nowadays was posted there. If there were outer space videos or topics about it roaming on the internet, it was mostly about those from the lost era and already torn out from millions of views.
While he was musing, Yman suddenly felt an itchy feeling like someone was staring at him. He darted his eyes like it was being pulled by an invisible magnetic force towards the person in front of him. He caught her staring at him.
Ella's brows twitched upward as her eyes widened a little, then she awkwardly darted her eyes away from him, in haste.
Yman had noticed her covering her mouth slightly, using the middle part of her right index finger.
Then again, he noticed her holding a chuckle. He wondered what was the reason. He touched his face with a frown, wondering if there was a stain on it.
Maybe his disguise was canceled?!
He briefly asked his deity through thought communication. Sistela who was currently resting on his shoulder replied with a 'no'. He then sighed in relief. Yman knitted his brows. Maybe this beautiful girl was mocking on him? He suddenly remembered a specific person who didn't show even a slight contempt towards him.
Her image suddenly appeared in his mind.
He wondered what happened after he left. Actually, when he left the city, his MTMD had broken. And when he made a contract with the demon, it caused an unexpected bug on Sistela's System. Now he could not contact even his sister. He needed to find the medicine as soon as possible. He had only a little time before the competition in the Zone 7 academy would start.
Yman was unaware of the reason why the girl in front of him seemed like she was holding a chuckle. In truth, Ella was having difficulty getting rid of the scene that unfolded in front of her awhile ago. A chuckle was attempting to escape from her mouth whenever she remembered that little parody. And the author of it was no other than this man who was currently in front of her.
Yman took a sip of coffee and bit a little piece of cake, still wary of the girl in front. The coffee's taste was not his preferred taste, but it tasted good together with the cake.
Ahem!
The two of them heard the throat-clearing sounds of the headmaster. After officially introducing herself, she also introduced her niece to him. Which Yman had to introduce himself too.
Laura took the initiative to explain the reason for the meeting.
"A bodyguard?" He gawked. This was unexpected. He also noticed the same expression on the face of the beautiful girl in front of him.
"Yes, I needed you to act as her bodyguard for several weeks," Laura said after sipping her tea.
"A-Aunt? B-But isn't he just an n-new adventurer?" Ella said while trying not to sound rude.
The headmaster seemed to understand her worry. The way she said it as a new adventurer and not newbie means she tried not to be rude to him. Laura glanced at Yman, she noticed that there was no slight change in his countenance. Looks like he too knew that her niece didn't mean to mock him. He has the usual calm demeanor that she saw on him this whole time.
She sighed in relief.
Actually, Yman didn't care if it was meant to mock him or not. What he was more concerned about were the consequences. He might drag himself into danger because of this mission.
Before Yman could speak again, something tickled his ears.
<Partner, although your strength and defensive abilities can be rated highly, your attack is poor. You can't even control his fireball yet. And on top of that, you know how bad your luck is. Instead of making her safe, maybe we might drag her into trouble as the result.> Sistela suddenly said to him via thought communication.
Yman's mouth broke into a soundless laugh, 'Y-You are right,' he replied.
But when Laura told him the rewards, Sistela was the first one who accepted the offer. Even Yman was speechless by the reward. It really was tempting.
"100,000GP and Rank A Level 10 Soul of Advancement?!" Yman and Sistela slack-jawed.
With that much money, he could fully equip Sistela. And with the Rank A Level 10 Soul, he could advance her into the rank of Main Land Deity! In this case, he could finally use her to attack like those spirit beasts. And Rank A to boot! It has the stats equivalent to a Rank A+ Wanderer Monster, Or Rank 6 Spirit Beast in terms of the demi-humans.
To advance the System Deity, not only the user needed to equip their deity with body parts, but the System Deity must also be up-to-date. Their system must be at the newest version of its System OS. But it wasn't just that, like the magicians who needed the Syringe of Advancement in order to breakthrough, the System Deity needed the Level 1-100 Soul of Advancement in order to level. The more soul
the more humanely they become.
Even Sistela was drooling.
Yman scratched his face. Looks like the headmaster really is an expert in baiting.
Although, most people here didn't like the System Deities of humans. Yet the headmaster knew how their power-ups work.
In the end, Yman had to agree too. After all, it could also solve his money issue. He could use the money to buy the needed materials in order to Synthesize medicine.
After gathering all the needed materials, his next problem was to find an Alchemist who could process and Synthesize the medicine for his sister.
But before that, it now depends if the beautiful Miss Ella would accept him as her bodyguard for several weeks.
"I accept him as my bodyguard if he joins tomorrow's Clash of Strength and defeats his first opponent in a domineering way," Ella firmly suggested.
Well, for her, that duel a while ago wasn't valid since it was only a duel and it was like a child's play compared to the real tournament.
And his enemy even though gold rank adventurer, he was only using a rank 1 and rank 2 Spirit Beast. It was that guy's fault for looking down on his opponent. But the great noble of the empire would never make such a mistake. Certainly, many nobles would be joining tomorrow's Clash Of Strength, since it was one of the most popular tournaments in the empire.
She even heard from Hannah that most of their Elite magician students from year 1 to year 3 would be joining.
Yman scratched the back of his head while nodding.
He wasn't really planning on joining it. But now he had to.
'And what the heck is winning in a domineering way? Do I need another butt-kicking?!' He thought.
