The Guardians' Throne - The First Magic Swordsman

Chapter 450: Satisfaction

Zaos lowered his stance when he saw several mercenaries pointing their spears toward him and approaching. Soon after, he dashed toward them, and when they were about to pierce him with their weapons, Zaos jumped over them and landed in the middle of one of the battalions. The soldiers around didn't see that coming, and they never had the chance because Zaos swung his blade and cut the throat of eight of them in a single motion.

Zaos dashed toward the west side of the formation because it was there he would find the walls and the entrance of the town. Most likely, those three were curled in there with the remaining five hundred soldiers… dealing with a smaller army will be easier inside the town since they won't have the chance to move all that much. However, Zaos still had numerous enemies blocking his path… He dashed toward while showing an icy cold stare at the enemies and pierced their throats with a fearsome speed. It has been a while since Zaos used the Ox guard. Still, it felt as comfortable as usual, even more so while using a single-handed sword… the enemies didn't even see Zaos coming.

Despite his speed and lack of hesitation, one or other mercenary managed to scratch Zaos. Still, Zaos got lucky because only those in the very first lines of the battalions had weapons embedded in poison. Even if the poison that could drain health, mana, and stamina was from that country, not even those three could use so much poison freely.

Another useful power of the Guardian's Hearth was the fact that the mana of the target was completely drained when they suffered deadly damage. Thanks to that, Zaos' focus recovered the mana he used, and his focus increased by fifteen points in a matter of seconds. It was a weapon really created to kill hundreds of enemies… Now he could understand how two ordinary men managed to defeat the demon god.

The captains of the battalions were relatively away from the battle. Still, they could see blood raining in several points and their formation being destroyed. At the same time, the mercenaries couldn't stop a single man. They clicked their tongue and clenched their teeth, wondering how come a man who was using only a single arm and short-sword to fight could do that much, but logic couldn't explain that. Zaos was a monster… a monster that killed the princess, who was his childhood friend, and abandoned the country that praised his name in his accomplishment. As if that wasn't enough, he took a newborn child away from her home… he was worse than a monster. Even if he didn't have their blood, he cooperated with the followers of the demon god… he was a demon himself.

"HHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH."

Zaos frowned when the soldiers began to shout to raise their morale out of nowhere… What was the point of doing that against a single target? Nevertheless, the soldiers started to fight even more fiercely. When they noticed Zaos coming, some mercenaries even clenched their teeth while they waited for the mortal attacks. Those who had shields even dropped them and only held their spears with a single hand. When Zaos swung his sword at them, they used their arms to grab his arm while they swung their spears toward him. Zaos frowned since the difference in speed was too big, and they never succeeded. Still, even while they were agonizing, their spears were thrust toward his head. One or other managed to scratch his cheek… Instead of being annoyed at them, Zaos felt pity. They believed that what they were doing was just… why would they care about that after living a life where they fought their compatriots pretty much whenever possible for glory and riches?

When Zaos reached the other side of the battalion, he was caught off-guard when he saw the next group aiming bows toward him. At the same time, he heard the sound of tower shields being equipped behind him. Equipping his greatsword and blocking by using the ice that was still there was an option, but Zaos wouldn't be able to block all of them since he was so close to the archers. In the end… Zaos decided to use Thunder Armor for a moment.

The archers opened their eyes widely when the armor suddenly appeared and enveloped Zaos' entire body. That was the first time they saw a spell-like that… not to mention before they could fire their arrows, Zaos dashed toward them, and they didn't have the chance to see him. He passed by dozens of them while swinging his sword around… the archers were electrocuted by the small thunderbolts, but that didn't kill them. When Zaos suddenly appeared in the middle of the next battalion one second later, the heads of fifty soldiers rolled behind him.

"It seems my power increased as well thanks to the extra speed… despite the cost of mana, my Focus still went up since I killed so many of them," Zaos said nonchalantly while the enemies stared at him in silence.

What they saw was something that they had never heard before. They knew that Zaos could fight on foot with his greatsword even against dozens of members of heavy cavalry, but that… that was something else. While the mercenaries were in shock, Zaos resumed his attack. Maybe that was the wrong way to consider things, but he wanted compensation for the deaths of his own soldiers… and he was far from satisfied. He wanted those three dead...
