The Earth After Rebirth

Chapter 388 Trouble on a Date

He moved unbelievably fast from across the room and stood right in front of Wilfred. Not giving him a second to be impressed or shocked he threw his strongest punch.

Wilfred, as old as he was, was however a bit quicker on his feet, he stepped back majestically avoiding the attack. Sekani's knee was already following up, which was blocked by the butler's hand.

"Thank you for the offer, but I think I'll manage." He smiled, losing his balance but finding it again.

Wilfred's eyes widened in shock, 'he was able to push me back while drunk? Even though I wasn't fighting to kill here, that's still damn impressive. And my hand feels a bit numb, have I really gotten that old...'

"Wondering where I learned to punch and kick? I suppose I have my father to thank. I never did like fighting, I reckon this is why he did it? To fight this stupid system?

"I remember he wanted to train Ki too but I refused. He wasn't his best self when he'd train me, I didn't want Ki to see that side of him." He huffed out loud, throwing himself on the chair.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Wilfred couldn't lie to himself he was glad he didn't have to train yet another person. His body wasn't as nimble as it used to be.

"Amazing. I wonder how we've never crossed paths when he was something of a fighter." He thought back excitedly but he couldn't recognise any blue eyes that resembled Kiro and Sekani from his past.

Sekani shook his head laughing. His father may have known how to fight but he didn't go around doing that, he was a reputable lawyer in the lower district.

While the information felt urgent Sekani felt he could do nothing about it yet. He'd try to ask Kiro for the information while Wilfred did his own research.

They had been stressed in the last couple of months with four new kids and starting up a company it had all been overwhelming. So much that Sekani missed his wife.

Neither of them have had time to be intimate with each other, maybe it was the alcohol talking but he decided then that he would like to take his wife out for dinner.

Ever since their son bought them this estate there hasn't been a day where they could take it in and enjoy it. It was always one thing after another, now things seemed to be a bit calm — he knew the calm was just a false sense of security, he wasn't growing lax. Not at all.

"Wilfred, can you make us a reservation for tonight? Doesn't matter which restaurant. My wife isn't picky."

"Right away."

Sekani walked into their bedroom but his wife wasn't there. Walking into the kitchen, there she stood, cooking. He couldn't even be mad, while the food from their hired help was great, he couldn't deny that he missed eating his wife's food.

"You should be resting." He said barely a whisper leaning on the doorframe.

"I know, but doing nothing every day is going to drive me mad." She said without once looking up.

One minute she was chopping vegetables, the next was stirring the pot. That's when Sekani took her by the hand and yanked her much closer to him.

"You aren't even paying attention to me, we're going out in an hour, get ready."

"The kids—"

"Will survive without us in the house for a few hours." He leaned in for a kiss and she allowed it.

She pushed him off without meaning to.

"You seem a little drunk, are you sure—" She felt her feet leave the floor, Freya was too shocked to scream her lungs out. "Put me down this instance!"

"I'm not drunk at all!" He princess-carried his wife up to their bedroom. "We're gonna be late."

It didn't take neither of them long to get ready and they were already out there door. Trusting Angelina and Vada to hold the house down until they came back.

Wilfred ordered Raul to stay behind as he would be the designated driver for that evening. Seeing them all over each other at the back of the car, the butler wondered how he would've been if he did let someone in, at least once.

'Well, I'm too old to be thinking about such nonsense.' He thought pulling to the restaurant.

"I'll stay out here until you're done Sir."

Sekani mouthed him a thank you and took his wife's hand. Entering the fancy establishment, there were no hiccups. They were immediately seated and assigned a waiter.

As much as their technology was on the advanced side, jobs were still performed by humans. Things such as AIs or robots were only used to make the workers job easier.

The menu popped up in front of them and they chose their meals and drinks.

"I don't think we've been to a fancy restaurant?" Freya loved every second of it.

They were deeply enjoying each others company when...

"Tsk, no wonder my food is digesting differently today. Looks like this place now serves rats from the slums."

They didn't need to even see his face to know that the speaker was none other than Gilbert Blakeson.

The interruption made them uncomfortable for but a minute and with an unspoken agreement they decided to ignore their previous employer and focus on their well deserved break.

"Very rude. Wouldn't expect anything less of people who raised that stupid boy!" He seethed through gritted teeth.

Sekani could take insults directed at him no problem but nothing boiled his blood more than people who hauled insults at his family.

That's why he slowly got up from his chair despite his wife's protests, "you know Blakeson I don't usually do this but today will he an exception."

Gilbert was on the floor before he could retaliate. Nobody in the restaurant actually saw anything, just a man fall to the ground and another standing over him.

"Stay the hell away from my son." He said with a genuine smile.

He fixed his jacket and sat back down, continuing his date with his wife like nothing happened.

Gilbert was fuming on the floor, he got up without breaking eye contact. Took out a handkerchief to spit all the blood into it, the punch came in fast and hard, he couldn't see anything.
