She Belongs To The Devil

Chapter 727 Budding Friendship

Ramon didn't immediately get any answer from inside the room.

He saw a maid waiting outside in the common room. So he assumed she was looking after Grace and asked, "Hasn't Lady Grace woken up after we left her here?"Nôv(el)B\\jnn

The maid bowed and replied to the Prince, "She did wake up, Your Highness. But she could have fallen asleep again. She was saying earlier that she was still feeling dizzy."

Ramon gave a nod. "Okay, I will check up on her later on." He pointed at the plate that the other maid was holding and asked her, "Will you give it to her after she–"

"Prince Ramon!" Grace suddenly flung the door open and greeted one of her saviors with a warm smile on her face.

Ramon returned her smile with equal warmth. And he politely asked, "Milady, may I ask how you are doing? Are you still feeling dizzy?"

Grace opened the door wide and gestured for Ramon to enter. "Why don't you come in first? I hope you can spare a few minutes for me?"

Ramon gave a gentle nod and followed after her. He glanced at the maid who had been following him and asked her to set the plate on the table.

And once the maid went outside and shut the door behind her, Ramon settled down on the sofa while Grace sat down on the edge of her bed.

Grace shyly looked down at her bandaged wrist and finally answered the previous questions from Ramon, "I was feeling a little light-headed until a while ago. But I think I am recovering pretty fast. It's all thanks to you for finding me in time and Princess Ariel for healing me."

"That's good to hear." Ramon was relieved to know that she was almost back to her normal health now. He pointed at the food on the table and said, "Would you like to taste them? You were so enthusiastic about the barbeque this morning. But you couldn't attend it, so I thought that I would sneak you some."

Grace looked at Ramon and brightly smiled. She was really touched by that kind gesture of the Prince.

"I would love to taste them, yes," she replied gratefully.

Ramon got up and was about to offer the plate when Grace stood up on her feet and walked towards the sofa instead. Continue your adventure with empire

"Why don't we share it? Eating it alone wouldn't be fun," she politely asked as she sat down beside Ramon.

She had been left alone for hours and she was already wary of getting panic attacks every two minutes because the attack from Damien wouldn't leave her mind. And she really wanted to be accompanied by someone who she could talk to.

Ramon agreed to her without thinking twice. He came to visit her because he wanted to offer her some company in the first place.

At first, the two of them simply munched on some pieces of well-seasoned meats.

Grace wanted to start the conversation with Ramon. But she had a bad experience today. She almost had to pay the price for speaking freely with her own life. So she was being a little cautious.

In the end, Ramon couldn't handle that awkward silence. So he started the conversation by asking, "So, how long are you planning to stay here in the castle?"

Grace hurriedly chewed the food inside her mouth and gulped forcefully. And she answered, "I'm not really sure. I came here early in the morning thinking of returning back in the evening tonight. But I guess, I will have to stay here until tomorrow so that I can recover completely."

"I'm sorry that you didn't even get to spend any quality time with your cousin as you had expected." Ramon turned his body to face her and then earnestly apologized to her on Damien's behalf, "And I am sorry that Damien did that to you. It hasn't been that long since Damien started to mingle with humans again. Maybe that was the reason why he couldn't suppress his instinct."

"I would rather not talk about that incident," Grace quickly asked Ramon and shoved a mouthful of meat.

It wasn't that Grace didn't understand that. She had always sympathized with Kenneth when he had gone through that dangerous phase of his.

She always understood why Kenneth acted that way in his teenage years when the others didn't think twice before labeling him as a monster and a killer, and hating him.

And she knew that Damien was also going through something similar right now. However, as she was the victim this time, she couldn't get that image of Damien's terrifying red eyes and long fangs out of her head.

"It's scary, isn't it?" Ramon asked her out of the blue.

Grace glanced at Ramon and found him staring at the plate. He seemed to be saying something else. So she asked for clarification, "I'm sorry?"

Ramon took a deep breath in and then looked at Grace. And he elaborated on what he was thinking, "Isn't it scary to know that there are stronger, faster, and more powerful beings roaming the Earth? And you are just a normal human who won't stand a chance if they were to seriously fight you."

"It is scary." Grace looked down at her palms and added, "Before today, I had never felt that way though. I had never been in such a life-threatening situation."

"But I get your point of view." Grace understood why Ramon was saying that. After all, he was surrounded by the direct descendants of God. And even his own twin sister was a far superior being to him. "I felt really powerless when Lord Damien attacked me."

She swallowed the lump in her throat and said in a whisper, "I really thought that today was going to be my last day on Earth."

Grace glanced at saddened Ramon and spoke after quickly pulling up a smile, "On the bright side, we both know such powerful beings. They will be there to protect us when we can't protect ourselves from the danger."

"They might not always be there with us to protect us."

"I have seen Princess Ariel crossing great distances within a matter of a few seconds. I'm sure such moments will never arrive when you will be in danger and she won't be there to get you out of it."

"But still… I can't help but wish to be like them. If only I could also transform into a werewolf…"

Grace saw the longing for that power in Ramon's eyes. She could only imagine how inferior he must feel to his twin.

However, she still tried to console him, "It's not such a bad thing to be protected by the others, you know. I can already tell that your family would do anything for you if you were ever stuck in some problem. It's good to be loved and to be protected. Not all people have such luck. They can only wish they had someone to be there for them. You should be grateful."

Ramon felt something unexplainable in his chest after listening to Grace's thoughtful and kind words.

He felt as though he could come to terms with the insecurity that had been eating him up from the inside since his childhood… if he heard such consoling words from Grace more often.

He looked into her deep eyes and then asked without any hesitance, "Lady Grace, can we be friends?"

Grace was a little surprised by that sudden question from Ramon. However, she gladly accepted, "It would be my honor to have a friend like you, Prince Ramon."
