Rest In A Demon’s Embrace

Chapter 154 - Who Is Responsible?

Cao Haolong was not one to be confused by appearances. He had a favorable opinion of Luo Xiao, but he was also aware that there was a great chance that this young man would become an enemy.

While the Fourth and the Seventh Demon Princes still had not completely torn their faces, the likelihood that it would happen very soon was high.

Cao Haolong had initially decided to support the Fourth Demon Prince for two reasons. One was that their family had already more or less tied themselves to this faction, but more importantly, he was under the impression that the Seventh Demon Prince actually had no interest in the throne.

What he witnessed today within the private room further confirmed this belief. Still, he also understood that even if he was not willing to be Emperor himself, he was not very keen on letting his fourth brother take the position either.

Cao Haolong did not know what was behind the apparent dislike these two brothers had for one another, but he understood that this was something he could never ask. He was, after all, merely a servant. There was a significant difference between the Royal Family and everyone else.

Even if his stupid sister was unaware of the gap, he knew it clearly. Everyone within the city would look at the Cao family with admiration and respect, but they were actually just better-dressed servants. They would never have freedom, and they were entangled in the intrigue much more tightly than the royal sons.

If the Fourth Demon Prince lost the fight for the throne, he might be able to survive and be banished to the edge of the continent, but they would never be able to live to see another day.

If the Fourth Demon Prince failed, their family would have all their members executed; even the dogs and cats in their mansion would be killed alongside them.

Jiang Yao cleared his throat with a bit of annoyance, causing Cao Haolong to return to his senses. He realized that he had been staring at Luo Xiao a bit too long, and he felt a bit awkward.

"Your Royal Highness, you and your partner are truly a matching couple. I wish you both a long and joyous life together."

The anger which had been boiling in Jiang Yao's heart, waiting for a place to vent, suddenly died on its own. His mood turned much better, and a smile adorned his lips.

The greeting was very simple, but it was sincere. Such words pleased him greatly, and he completely forgot the anger that had wreaked havoc in his heart before and that now was completely extinguished.

Looking at the smug expression on Jiang Yao's face, both Cao Haolong and Luo Xiao understood his thoughts instantly, and both were amused.

Cao Haolong had never expected that Jiang Yao would be so childish when he was in love, while Luo Xiao just felt that the guy was simply too cute.

"Please excuse this official for interrupting your meal." Cao Haolong understood that it would not be a good idea to stay within the room now that his sister's crisis had been dealt with.

He bowed to the two with respect before he retreated gracefully. There was a calmness over every action he made, and an inherent elegance that was very comfortable.

Even Jiang Yao had to admit that this young man was outstanding. It was a shame that he had decided to support his fourth brother, as he was likely walking down towards his doom.

However, one thing was Cao Haolong; another was Cao Lanying. While the brother was pleasant, the sister was enough to make him feel an urge to torture her to death.

Luo Xiao was not as timid as he once was. He was not even affected by the interruption of the young miss and her brother, and as soon as they left, he continued to enjoy his time with Jiang Yao.

Jiang Yao also appeared to let go of his annoyance, but the manager was feeling extremely horrified. He had expected Jiang Yao to be gentle towards the Eldest Miss Cao as usual, but reality showed that one would only endure to a certain point before they would fight back.

Jiang Yao was not a good person to anger; in fact, he was much more powerful than the Eldest Miss Cao, but the manager had thought that the previous attitude could allow him to make use of this royal prince to his own advantage.

He was very well aware that even if the restaurant managed to survive the impending chaos that would come soon, he had no chance to keep his position.

He knew that every way he acted, from breaking the restaurant's rules, to taking into consideration the heritage and background of the involved parties, was unprofessional.

The Seventh Demon Prince had arrived first, so giving him the Jade Fruit Juice was correct. He was within his own private chamber, so he was not supposed to deal with the trouble that was happening outside. Also, he was a member of the Royal Family, not just a noble son.

Knowing that he was doomed, the manager felt how his body was trembling. His eyes were dull and full of despair, but he was not willing to give up just like that.

He slowly walked to the counter on the ground floor before he emptied the cash register. The money he took were enough to last him for a lifetime in a smaller country at the edge of the continent, and he knew that only by escaping would he be able to maintain his life.

Without anyone noticing his departure, the manager slowly slipped into the crowd of pedestrians and vanished from Cloudsoar City.
