Chapter 142 - 142 Site Selection for the Base

Chapter 142: Chapter 142 Site Selection for the Base

“What, you actually encountered Su Jin and Lu Hao, and they saved you?”

Delight mingled with the surprise in Zheng Miaomiao’s eyes—it seemed Su Jin and Lu Hao were all right.

“The two of them are so awesome. No wonder you keep praising them to me. Lu Hao is actually a Fire Element Ability User, but what element is Su Jin?” Liang Jiuqing asked as she dried her hair.

“Su Jin, she’s a Wood Element.”

Zheng Miaomiao no longer kept it a secret, as by now, they were both sisters-in-arms saved by Su Jin.

“What? Wood Element?!”

That’s such a pity, Liang Jiuqing thought regrettably.

The Wood Element was so weak; she had thought Su Jin would be at least a Water Element or Ice Element, especially since Su Jin looked so tender and her skin was nothing like her dark complexion.

“But she’s really powerful,” Zheng Miaomiao wanted to argue.

She had seen Su Jin fighting side by side with Lu Hao, and she was no less capable than him. But considering the current situation of Wood Element Ability Users, it was no wonder Liang Jiuqing felt that way. Oh well, she would know everything once she met Su Jin in person.

Zheng Miaomiao couldn’t help but wonder if they would ever be able to meet again.

“Right, I heard my dad saying that the base location they decided on last time was rejected by my brother again,” Liang Jiuqing sat down and sighed. They had been selecting a base location for a month now and still hadn’t settled on one, either because the place wasn’t right or because it was too close to the Zombie Central District.

“Base location…” Zheng Miaomiao muttered, suddenly recalling how Su Jin spoke last time; she mentioned “Dragon Leap Villa.”n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

“Dragon Leap Villa, right! Jiuqing, what do you think of that place?” Zheng Miaomiao said excitedly.

“You mean the Dragon Leap Villa where Su Jin and the others are living now?”

Liang Jiuqing’s motion of drying her hair gradually slowed down. That place might be worth considering.

In the City S Refuge, inside a simplistic meeting room, Liang Jiuhui heard from his father about the day’s events. Besides being grateful to those two, he was more interested in the Fire Element Ability User his father spoke of.

“It’s a pity Jiuqing didn’t get to see his true strength,” Liang Wei sighed. They were in dire need of people now; every day, people were sacrificing themselves on the front lines, and the number of Zombies was increasing every day—a vicious cycle indeed.

“Let’s first decide on the base location before anything else,” Liang Jiuhui said. The priority was to establish a new base location. Other provinces had already started building bases, so City S couldn’t lag behind.

“What about the area we mentioned before, with ‘Jingyue’ at the center of the base? Is that not suitable?” Liang Wei asked. It was there that Liang Jiuhui had gone to survey recently.

“That place won’t do. Its previous convenience in transportation has now become a major disadvantage, and with several universities nearby, the number of Zombies is quite significant,” Liang Jiuhui sighed. This location had been the third to be dismissed.

Bang!

The door to the meeting room was kicked open, hitting the wall and abruptly interrupting the conversation.

“Get out and come back in after knocking,” Liang Jiuhui’s voice instantly dropped eight degrees cooler.

Liang Jiuqing shrank her neck and slowly backed out, lightly rapping on the door three times with her knuckles.

“Come in,” Liang Jiuhui commanded.

Only then did Liang Jiuqing dare to enter. She had forgotten for a moment, only thinking of finding her father and forgetting that her brother had also returned today. Otherwise, even with all the courage in the world, she wouldn’t have dared to kick the door open like that.

Liang Wei stifled a laugh, finally someone could handle his unruly daughter.

“Dad, bro, you’re both here?” Liang Jiuqing chuckled twice and pulled up a stool to sit down.

“What, did you screw something up again?” Liang Jiuhui asked. He knew his sister’s ingratiating smile all too well—it was either she wanted something or she had gotten into trouble.

“What are you talking about? What kind of mess could I have made in such short time? I’m here to offer you counsel,” Liang Jiuqing wasn’t confident she could persuade the two leaders of her family; after all, her brother always said that her words were as good as farts.

“Oh? Let’s hear it.”

Liang Jiuhui was intrigued, this time she wasn’t here to ask to join a mission.

“Well, about the location for the base, what do you think of Dragon Leap Villa?” Liang Jiuqing asked cautiously.

“Are you talking about the place where the two people stayed today?” Liang Wei straightened up. He had actually had the same idea, but hadn’t had the chance to mention it yet.

“Yeah, yeah, Su Jin and their family all live there. It mustn’t be too dangerous,” Liang Jiuqing saw that her brother hadn’t called her reckless and their father hadn’t objected, so she thought there might be a chance this could work.

“Hmm, I don’t see why not to consider your suggestion; and I heard that you guys also cleared a small group of zombies over there today,” Liang Jiuhui had previously thought about the area in City West, but hadn’t had the chance to scout it yet. After all, it was quite a distance from the current refuge.

“What do you mean ‘a small group’? It was a huge horde, okay!” Liang Jiuqing felt that Su Jin and Lu Hao’s feats today should not be buried and desperately tried to explain.

“And we lost a Wind Element Ability User,” Liang Jiuhui reminded her without any sugarcoating.

“…”

Liang Jiuqing’s mood instantly fell. Yes, their losses today were also severe, especially those two pilots; she didn’t even remember their names.

Seeing Liang Jiuqing like this, the father and son suddenly felt a pang of sympathy, so Liang Wei quickly changed the subject.

“Jiuhui, if you don’t have any missions in a few days, go check it out,” perhaps, perhaps it could be a good choice.

“Dad, me too, I want to go!” Liang Jiuqing’s attention was indeed successfully diverted.

Liang Wei nodded. It was a good idea for her to go along with Jiuhui. After all, Jiuhui was a Thunder Element Ability User, which was surely safer than her running off again to attract zombies with others.

“Alright, we’ll go when we have the time,” Liang Jiuhui said.

Hearing her brother didn’t argue back and even used the word “we,” Liang Jiuqing’s heart blossomed with joy, and she couldn’t wait to share this thrilling news with Zheng Miaomiao.

Seeing Liang Jiuqing’s face filled with happiness and excitement, Liang Wei also smiled. A girl’s life should be like that, not always about fighting and killing.

On the roof of the refuge, Zheng Miaomiao was chatting with Liang Jiuqing while pouring Special Ability Water into the water tower. She hadn’t expected Uncle Liang to actually accept the suggestion.

“Miaomiao, do you want to come with us?” Liang Jiuqing knew Miaomiao really liked the people in that team.

“No, you guys go ahead. I need to help here. There have been quite a few wounded brought in these last few days, and it would be troublesome without water,” Zheng Miaomiao was never one to seek out excitement, and her Water Element was extremely important to the refuge’s makeshift hospital.

Liang Jiuqing nodded. The number of injured fighters had been increasing these past few days. The temporary hospital was busier than ever, and she glanced at Zheng Miaomiao’s slightly rosier cheeks, missing the chubby cuteness of the past. It looked like it would take some time before she could gain back the weight.

The two chatted as they walked down from the rooftop, unaware in the shadow behind the terrace, a figure moved. A man with a sinister gaze crushed the butt of his cigarette that was smoked to the filter: “A base, huh? Interesting.”
