Chapter 1008 - 1005: Taking Sides
Chapter 1008: Chapter 1005: Taking Sides
Chunqin clenched the long knife, repressing the urge to go outside and settle the score with the other party, and spoke to Ye Muyu with some incredulity.
“Perhaps she has some backing,” Ye Muyu pondered, already having sent people to investigate Hu Yan’s background, though the news had not yet returned, it was Miss Sun who caused trouble first.
“Let her make a fuss; there’s no need to go out and get splashed with dirty water,” Ye Muyu’s voice was calm. In fact, she was indeed very composed, sitting beside the stone bench slowly sipping tea.
Chunqin, on the other hand, held the weapon and stood not far from the gate, vigilantly ready in case the other party rushed in and truly harmed the lady.
Perhaps because Ye Muyu didn’t react, Sun Ning’s anger could not be quelled, and in a blaze of fury, she directly called two matrons to ram open the courtyard gate.
There were two loud thuds.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
The courtyard gate was smashed open with a crack.
In the main hall of the county government, when County Magistrate Sun learned of this, he felt as if calamity had struck. Although he disliked Lord Chu and his wife, and even had no plans to cooperate with Lord Chu, he wouldn’t be foolish enough to directly attack the couple. Such a grave act of disrespect was punishable by flogging!
“Quick, go stop the young miss,” disregarding everything else, County Magistrate Sun hurried towards the backyard, knowing full well the temper of his own daughter, that if not indulged, she would surely cause a disaster.
He used to think his daughter was just being her true self, but now, he had to rush to clean up after her.
“Stop!”
“The Eunuch commands you to stop!”
Two voices rang out one after the other.
When County Magistrate Sun saw Eunuch Ren arriving, his face grew even paler. He felt as if he were walking on knife blades and quickly suppressed the anxiety in his heart. With a wave of his hand, two matrons immediately stepped forward to pull Sun Ning away.
“Ning’er, how can you be so unruly when you’re sick? It’s the fault of these servants for not reminding you. Someone, take these maidservants away,” and at once, servants came forward to drag the maidservants away.
Cries echoed in an instant.
Seeing County Magistrate Sun arriving, Sun Ning couldn’t help but want to complain, but County Magistrate Sun quickly winked at her, signaling her not to offend Eunuch Ren.
“Father, I feel so dizzy…” Sun Ning’s eyes twinkled, instantaneously grasping her father’s intent, and she immediately collapsed weakly into the arms of a nearby matron.
Just thinking of how she had slapped Ye Muyu’s face, who then dared not say anything, Sun Ning felt delighted. A hint of smugness flashed in her eyes; it served Muyu right to compete with her.
“Wait a moment.”
The two matrons, trembling with fear, looked at Eunuch Ren who just spoke out, and Sun Ning, following suit, stumbled and subconsciously looked towards him.
“Eunuch, you…” Sun Ning hadn’t finished speaking,
when Eunuch Ren waved his hand impatiently and frowned at County Magistrate Sun, “County Magistrate Sun, such wilfulness of your distinguished daughter, just letting it go like this?”
“Despite how you see it, Lord Chu is still an official personally appointed by the Emperor. In your eyes, is he just someone that can be bullied at will?”
“Don’t talk too much, call your daughter over to apologize. If Madam Chu is not satisfied, there’s actually not much I can do,” Eunuch Ren said towards the end, smiling ambiguously at him.
“Ning, apologize to Madam Chu,” County Magistrate Sun, even if daring, didn’t have the nerve to openly defy Eunuch Ren, and quickly called Sun Ning over.
Sun Ning’s face froze with smugness, completely unexpected that Eunuch Ren would so bluntly side with Ye Muyu and retorted subconsciously, “Eunuch, it’s clear that Madam Chu has concocted something to make you prefer only the food she prepares. You won’t even touch what our chef makes. If Madam Chu is gone in the future, how will you eat?”
Sun Ning looked at him with great aggrievement.
