My Mother Has a System but Won't Use It

Chapter 28 Meeting the fatty.

Chapter 28  Meeting the fatty.

Back in the merchant's trade area of Starlight Zone.

Han Li looked at Uncle Li — the fat uncle whose daughter was about to have a marriage tomorrow — and smiled.

Pang Li cleared the sweat from his forehead and said in a relieved voice, "Luckily you came at this time, an hour or so later and I would have looked for someone else to cook."

Han Li just looked at him and kept a smile.

Slightly weirded out, Pang Li looked around and then looked back at Han Li. "Hey, what the hell kid, why are you smiling like a weirdo?"

Han Li didn't elaborate on how the guy was the reason he could get a small fortune already.

5000 coins were this fatty's contribution.

"Fatty, today, I am here to propose you a great deal."

Pang Li was startled and looked at him with wide eyes.

Han Li had called him fat before, but it was always in a respectful manner. Why was this kid so rude suddenly?

Not only had his eyes become red for some reason, but his attitude had even changed?

It was not a very rare thing to see, but to see a fundamental change like eye color on a person was quite strange.

Not to mention someone who wasn't even a cultivator.

He was such a good kid too. If his attitude changed, it would have been such a big waste.

Nevertheless, Pang Li's hidden passion for business was scratching at his heart, so he asked, "What deal?"

"You called me here to cook for your daughter's marriage, right?" Han Li asked with a smile that was not a smile.

"Ah! Yes, we are well-planned this time and you won't be treated badly. Believe me, your food is growing popular these days and you might even have a chance to please those people who don't like you just because you don't have a spark, think of all the money that will roll in!"

Han Li raised an eyebrow, that would indeed have been a good thing for him if he did not have future memories.

"Fatty, listen here, I want you to follow me, okay? Just leave your stall open and come."

Pang Li was slightly weirded out at this point but moved his fat body out of the stall anyway and followed Han Li.

Someone else would care for his stall in his absence since everyone around was familiar with each other.

Han Li didn't care about the vendors and passersby and just moved past them without a word.

Before long, they were out of the Merchant area and near the housing areas, and Han Li moved to the shade of a long tree and waited for the fat man to reach him.

He was too slow.

Heaving slightly, Pang Li reached near him and asked, "What did you bring me here for?"

Han Li looked at him and pondered for a second before saying his piece, "I want you to call off Liyue's wedding."

Pang Li was stunned at the words and then frowned as he looked at him.

Was this brat up to some kind of trouble?

"Uncle Pang, Liyue is a kind girl and someone I have known from young. It hurts me to know that she would be married off to someone we don't even really know."

Pang Li's voice was dull as he said, "I have done enough background checks, he is a good man who even has a chance at Evolution. What are you trying to pull here?" n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Han Li smiled. "If there was another person whom you already know who has a similar level of talent who came here and asked for her hand, would you leave her for him?"

"What do you mean?" Pang Li asked, feeling a vague sense of premonition.

Han Li opened his palms and a red fire the size of a baby's fist started to burn atop it.

"Third Awakening..." Pang Li muttered in disbelief, and then exclaimed: "Brat... you always had a Spark?!"

"I always did," Han Li smirked, "But I was tempering myself through the constant hardships that get thrown at a person who had no spark, I know it is a fictional situation and there exists no one without a spark, but acting like such a person was quite fun."

Pang Li's heart was beating heavily as he looked at the spark.

"Don't think too much, it is a Spark inherited from my father's side of the bloodline. My mother had Starlight Spark, but father didn't."

Pang Li immediately believed it, since it was a known detail that nobody knew who Han Li's father was.

Of course, he was just a bastard, he didn't have any so-called father.

"You see, my father had many enemies, so I kept the Spark hidden, but now that someone whom I like is being married to another man, I finally decided to come out strong. Even though I believe you will keep this a secret."

Pang Li's head was spinning all around and he was feeling all sorts of overwhelmed.

But he then asked, "But Liyue and you didn't even have much contact as far as I know."

"It was love at first sight," Han Li's eyes grew dreamy, "Yesterday, I saw her, and I could no longer get her out of my head."

Pang Li was dubious.

"My father's clan had invited me to go back soon, so I don't have much time before I leave, so I wanted to bring a wife with me, Liyue seemed like a very good candidate too."

Han Li sighed. "It is too hard to live as an only heir, the clan wants me back as soon as possible, so anyway, it is okay if you don't want to cancel the marriage, I just have to find someone else to marry..."

Pang Li's mind rang with questions, but at the same time, he had a feeling that he was seeing a big piece of meat now.

The marriage was set up on the go anyway!

The man Liyue was about to marry was quite rich, but money was nothing much, he had even stumbled across many bags of it around when he was just walking by.

'Pang Li, your lucky star is shining again! Maybe this is your chance to raise!'

"Oh, brat... actually, Liyue is also not very interested in marriage, we old people had an old agreement, but if we find better candidates... There is no problem in calling it off."

Even if he was just talking air and he didn't have any sort of background, Han Li was a much better husband since he was someone Pang Li was very familiar with for years now.

He was out of the list because he believed Han Li didn't have a Spark, now that he had, everything was different.

Han Li was the main choice from all angles! Not to mention he liked the kid!

Han Li smiled widely and patted the fatty on the back. "Uncle Li only wants the best for his daughter, you know what to do! Anyway, my mom asked me for some help, and I am late. When you talk this out with her and everything is settled, I will come again, but it will be with dowry this time."

Pang Li pondered heavily and nodded.

Han Li smiled and headed back to his home with calm strides.

That was a fruitful discussion, now his cultivation would be a little faster and his mother would have much less work at home.
