Master's Untamed Wife

Chapter 1356 We Concluded

Chapter 1356  We Concluded

"How are the new assistants working, Chief?" Raelle put down the document she was going through when she heard Cloe's random question. "Good!" n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Cloe stared at her when she responded that way.

"What?" asked Raelle.

"Have you gone soft or I was just not worthy of your compliments?" asked Cloe straightforwardly because it did hurt her self-esteem when Raelle so easily evaluated those youngsters as 'good' while she had to work so hard but could hardly hear 'acceptable' from Raelle.

"I am still the same," replied Raelle. "At least, when it comes to professionally. You see when you first came on a trial period to work with me, Yanyan asked me how I was liking your work and I told her, 'excellent' at that time."

Cloe was happily surprised to know this, "I was so highly evaluated?"

"Why else would you be here? Did I look like I had the patience to cultivate someone for years?" asked Raelle.

"But you're always stingy when it comes to me," she couldn't hold back her grudge.

"I didn't want you to get inflated with pride. See, because I was stingy, you became exceptional and irreplaceable from just excellent. My stinginess did all that."

"Wow! You can really justify anything," marveled Cloe as she shook her head.

"We are going to the HQs soon. Hopefully, you're prepared for that."

Cloe looked at her and snickered, "Chief, we are going to Country G for your wedding ceremony. Not for work. Are you forgetting it?"

"We can take this chance to squeeze in time for a quarterly board meeting," said Raelle.

"HA! You are overthinking. I don't think there is gonna be anything squeezing here and there. You are gonna be dressed in your bridal attire. Just play the role of the bride faithfully. Don't let your thoughts wander or I'll let your husband know that you're thinking about having an affair with your favorite mistress!"

"I have a mistress?" asked Raelle. "Why don't I know that?"

"It's your work!" reminded Cloe. "If you hadn't been so madly in love with Xian, I'd have actually thought that work was your first love too as I did for the longest time."

"Even I know now that you can only fall in love madly once. And I already did with Xian. I don't think it's possible again."

"You always said, never say never."

"I did say that," agreed Raelle. "However, you're not understanding my point. When you fall in love with someone, it's always one of a kind. Think about it yourself. Is the love you had for your ex and the love you have for Cui Xukun the same? I doubt that."

Cloe couldn't argue with that at all. "For someone who has barely come to understand love, you surely have a lot of opinions."

"I'm a very analytical and objective person. So, my opinions hold weight too. I don't speak blindly because of emotions. It's observations. You still haven't gotten it."

"I believe I'd never be able to get to your level of observation because I think sitting in the same room, in the same situation we both would be observing different things because of our different personalities, characters, and the importance we place on that situation."

"You are not that wrong either," said Raelle. "But I think your observation skills are a bit on the downfall these days," added Cloe.

"And why is that so?" asked Raelle.

"I have been running into you so many times since this morning but you did not notice anything," said Cloe.

"If you're talking about the additional ring on your ring finger than yes, I have noticed that. Only a blind won't notice it when you have purposely waved at me, tried to handshake with me with your left hand knowing well that I won't respond. Then you took a step further and put all these documents on my table with your left hand making sure that the angle of your ring is clear to my eyes. Even now, you're drinking your coffee with your left hand. So, yes, Cloe. I am certainly not blind. I just did not feel the need to point that out on our working hours."

"Damn, that hurts!"

"Well, suck it up! I guess you must have mastered the trick of sucking it up after spending so long by my side."

"I do know," replied Cloe. "But it's so not nice to see me making a fool of myself and not saying anything."

"First, I found it quite entertaining. Second, I knew you wanted me to ask so that you could show off but I just did not want to give you that satisfaction either. Third, I just don't care enough about that ring on your finger!"

"Woah! That hurts! That hurts a lot! Slow down! There is no need for so much attack in such a short time."

"Well, I thought you needed to know that. Just as a reminder that I am still the same Raelle Xiang who doesn't give a fuck about anything else when she is working."

"Then I should be glad I found you during the lunch break," said Cloe.

"Yes. Certainly. If you had waited any longer, I would have let you brew your emotions till we clock out from work."

"Well, you are indeed evil! What was I even expecting? Oh, that's right. I was expecting a simple and plain congratulations from you! My bad! I guess it was too much to ask for."

"Congratulations, Cloe!"

Cloe looked at her and sighed, "Thanks."

"I hope you had fun with your proposal. I should congratulate you for your efforts. Do let me know when you're getting married so we coordinate the work during that period and allow you to have a long and happy vacation for wedding and honeymoon."

"That's more than I was hoping for. What's gotten into you? From pure evil, how are you walking towards goodness? Don't do that. It doesn't suit you."

"Henceforth, we concluded that you are just never happy with whatever version of Raelle Xiang you have to face."
