On the streets of Duan city, Leon and Arian and The elder Half-moon made their way down the streets on a wooden carriage.
The carriage was average looking at best, being made of a substandard wooden material. For a man of his status, such a carriage should be looked down on. But Half-moon seemed not to care even in the slightest.
After a few minutes of riding, they appeared before an estate gate. Half-moon waved his hand and the gate swung open automatically, and they drove right in.
They then stopped before a brick house two stories long.
"Come on down" Half-moon invited them in.
this was his home.
He was a long-standing member of the faceless mercenary company, a lot of people knew him already. So hiding his home was not really necessary, in fact, his face was already well known in the company too.
He would only wear his faceless mask on missions that demanded him to.

The door to the house opened and Half-moon steppes in...almost immediately after,
"Take this!!!"
Out of nowhere, a red haired teenager appeared and threw a kick at Half-moon's head.

But of course, with a few simple moves, Half-moon was able to dodge and grab her by her ankle.
"Naughty girl, you need to stop doing that" Half-moon said playfully to the girl as she dangled from his hand. Half-moon was incredibly tall, around 7ft (2.13 meters).
"Hmp!!" The girl harrumphed before turning her head away as if showing her dissatisfaction. Soon a host of maids rushed forward to greet half moon and his guests.
"Hehe, prepare the dinning table" Half-moon laughed bitterly.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
The maids and servers of the house went to work and immediately whipped up a delicious meal for them to eat.
"Hm? Rice balls? Nice" Leon looked delighted as the table was set.
"Hmp!!" Arian looked over at him with the sides of her eyes and harrumphed.
"Ah? What did I do?" Leon asked, But he received no response. Following this, Half-moon's kid reached to the front of the table and grabbed the lap of a chicken and began stuffing herself.
"Manners!!" Half-moon berated her, causing Leon and Arian to look over.
"Sorry about that, She can be a bit much sometimes." He said, and after a brief pause. He continued.
"This is my Daughter Ember. She is the light of my days and coincidentally, she also joined the company a week ago, same time as you, I presume."
The elder Half-moon introduced his daughter to Leon and Arian. He was a single dad, having lost his wife a while ago, he had to turn to taking care of his daughter by himself. In fact, he didn't want her to join the faceless mercenary company.
But, she insisted and forced him into giving in. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Dad!! You just told them my real name." Ember said to Half-moon with annoyance in her voice.
"Your name? Take a look in the mirror sweetheart" Half-moon shook his head. Ember didn't even have a faceless mask on, abet him warning her to have it on always. What was the use of keeping her name secret when her face wasn't?
"Ah?" Noticing that her faceless mask was nowhere to be seen, Ember could only laugh bitterly at herself. She didn't know they would be having guests.
"Anyway, she is the one who will be joining your team. She's currently at the middle stage of level 1, and she's a special grade like you" Half-moon introduced. His daughter was actually very talented not only in magic but also in the art of killing. Just like Leon, she had achieved the 15 kill rate in her test to join the company.
He didn't like to say it, but he was actually proud of her prowess.
"She will be under you both, please take care of her and make sure she isn't harmed" Half-moon spoke, followed by a subtle bow of the head.
"I'm not going to be under anyone, he is a special grade, so what? I'm also a special grade. Plus I don't even know who the lady is, but she's definitely not better than me" Ember harrumphed, showing her defiance.
She didn't like the idea of being placed under someone her age. It was annoying.
"Well, there's a big difference between both of you. Our friend badur here got the special grade status from a 20-man match while you got yours from a 60-man match"
"If we really think about it, he's three times as competent." Half-moon spoke with the utmost seriousness. His daughter needed to learn some humility, that's why he wanted to place her under Leon.
"20 man match? That's....." Ember knitted her brows.
Gaining the status of a special grade from a 20 match required a lot of skill. It wasn't easy to kill 15 out of 20 people, including yourself, that meant that he entered the match and killed everyone except 4....that was grossly different from what she participated in.
Hers was a 60-man match 'hosted' specially for those aiming for the special grade status, and even that was hard, as they were others constantly trying to kill your targets. If you weren't fast enough, you would lose the opportunity.
But Leon was able to achieve this with smaller numbers? This made her achievement look like dog shit.
"As for Prideful heart, she, just like your father, is a level 3 mage" Half-moon, after seeing the complex changes in his daughter's expressions , dropped the final bomb.
Arian was a level 3 mage, the same as her father, and she had disregarded her like that? This was humiliating.
"I…." Ember couldn't find the words, but she couldn't help but wonder where her father found these monsters.
A few minutes after the dinner.
Leon and Half-moon stood outside the brick house, looking at the open courtyard in front. There Arian and Ember stood, waiting for both of them.
"The A Ranked mission won't be enough….you know why" Leon said to Half-moon.
Ember had an attitude problem, she was annoying and a pain in the ass. There was no way she would be able to work with others with that attitude.
Leon even suspected that Half-moon had gone to others to take her in and was refused, that was why he came to them. They didn't know her reputation as much, and they were new.
They would definitely accept.
"What do you want?" Half-moon asked.
"3 favors" Leon replied.
"I'm not going to offend any power for you" Half-moon replied coldly.
There were droves of members of the faceless mercenary company that had offended people they couldn't fight against. They mostly joined the company to avoid those guys and keep themselves safe.
Leon's favor could be along that line. Of course, there was also the fact that Arian was a level 3 mage. That created a bigger possibility that Leon might have offended a level 4 mage.
That was a no-go ahead for anyone with a working brain.
"I won't ask you to directly engage in combat with anyone, don't worry old man" Leon shook his head and explained.
He just needed a sort of backing, he didn't need a fighter. He had Arian for that.
"If that's the case, then okay. I agree"
