Chapter 281 She's Angry My Love
Atlas continued attacking the Bloodclaws, but slowed down as some of their attacks hit. While fighting, he opened a portal for the women to join him, which they did. Nulia charged through and clashed with a monster.
The Frostbear woman was too smart for the creature and quickly turned it into meat chunks before moving on to the next enemy. He watched as Estelle, Grishna, Artemis, and Zena joined the fight by casting their magic.
Following this, Atlas saw the spells wipe out dozens of monsters that were turned to ash because of the overwhelming power. Amethyst appeared while letting out a screech before sending a wave of Cosmic Flames washing over the creatures.
'They all should be dead soon now they are here,' he thought as he cast several Void Lances into the Bloodclaws torsos.
The spells burrowed through their bodies, causing them to crash to the ground as more dead when the women sped past. Atlas smiled before turning toward the village and used Void Step to appear on top of the wall.
He noticed the white wolves were preparing to join the fight, but he stopped that by casting Void Barrage into the remaining monsters. Once they dropped dead, the women caught their breaths.
When the survivors heard the battle ended, they opened the gates only to see a swarm of dead creatures littering the ground. Atlas collected most of them while dumping the rest into the demi-human camp.
Following that, he walked toward Aurora, who was surrounded by her generals. The white wolf woman beamed as she spoke. ''Thank you for helping us. We owe you a great debt.''
Atlas waved her away before he replied, ''Where is the old woman that came from the Shadowfang Kingdom?''
When Aurora heard this, her ears perked up, but a voice reached his ears, ''Young man, you kept your end of the deal. Now I'll do my bit.''
He turned around to see the old wolf standing nearby, a friendly smile softening her weathered features as she approached. Without hesitation, Atlas retrieved the Monster Vault and extended it toward her.
''You mentioned I would need to give a piece of my soul?'' he asked, his voice steady but tinged with curiosity.
The old woman nodded in affirmation, her eyes gleaming with a knowing wisdom. With a silent gesture, she motioned for them to follow her toward the cascading waterfall, its roar muffled by the surrounding trees.
Meanwhile, the other women entered the camp behind them, greeted like heroes by the gathered crowd. Their triumphant return brought a wave of celebration, but Atlas's focus remained on helping Lilith as he followed the old wolf.
''Hold out your hand, this will hurt but it will be seconds and my name is Lunara Shadowfang, the queen mother,'' the wolf woman said with a giggle.
Atlas did as she said and he felt her pull something from his body, which made a horrible pain shoot through his body. He trembled, but Lunara quickly dragged it into the Monster Vault and Lilith's sleeping form.
Seconds later, Atlas blacked out as an explosion erupted within him and tons of memories flooded his mind, causing a headache to rage. He came to only to be on his knees as the pain overwhelmed him.
'You left me for years!' a woman's enraged voice echoed in his mind.
'Oh, fuck!' he thought while opening his eyes, only to see Lilith standing there with glowing yellow eyes.
Atlas shook his head and noticed the women were giggling at him as Amethyst shouted with a big smile, ''She's angry, my love! Deal with her before she turns on us.''Nôv(el)B\\jnn
The honey badger turned on her and let out a fierce growl which made everyone laugh as they entered the Otherworld, leaving him alone as the white wolves quickly piled into the buildings.
'Bitches! They left me to fend her off alone!'
Atlas turned to Lilith, his eyes widening as he noticed how much she had grown. She now stood at the size of a large dog, her sharp gaze fixed on him with an intensity that sent a shiver down his spine.
Her body tensed, and the air between them grew thick as he tried to explain. ''Lilith, I didn't leave you,'' he began, his tone genuine. ''We were searching for a soul mage so I could heal you.'' Explore more stories with empire
'Lies!' she snarled, her voice dripping with fury before she sprang at him with alarming speed.
Atlas let out a startled yelp, leaping to the side to dodge her attack. But she was too fast. In a flash, Lilith was upon him, her claws digging into his back as she pinned him down. Pain erupted in his shoulder as her teeth sank in, sharp and unyielding.
He gritted his teeth against the agony, his vision blurring for a moment. Summoning all his strength, he twisted his body and threw her off, sending her tumbling a few feet away, but she continued attacking.
When she lunged, Atlas caught her in a hug and held the little creature close as he spoke, ''It's good to see you again. Do you know how much I've missed you, Lili?''
As the words left his lips, the two of them, now altered in size, lost their balance and tumbled into the roaring waterfall. The powerful current swept them away, throwing the wolf people into a state of panic.
Desperate to regain control, Atlas attempted to use Void Step, but he soon hit his head on a jagged rock, rendering him unconscious. Lilith panicked while clinging to him like a baby koala as they floated down the rushing river.
A few hours later, Atlas stirred awake, his body aching and his senses disoriented. He found himself washed ashore in the heart of a dense jungle, the air thick with humidity and the distant calls of unseen creatures.
As he tried to move, he felt a heavy weight pinning him down. Blinking through the haze, he opened his eyes and froze. Lying atop him was a young, slender woman, her presence as unexpected as his surroundings.
She had short, snowy-white hair that framed her elegant jawline, catching the soft light filtering through the jungle canopy. But what truly caught his attention was the pair of animal ears perched atop her head, twitching slightly.
Atlas couldn't help but notice how stunning she was, her features radiating an otherworldly beauty that made her seem almost ethereal. She looked to be in her early twenties, her youthful yet refined appearance striking a delicate balance.
But it wasn't just her looks. Something about her presence drew him in, an inexplicable pull that unsettled him. For a moment, he simply gazed at the beautiful stranger, his thoughts a whirlwind as he tried to make sense of the stranger before him.
'A demi-human?' he wondered, his mind racing to piece things together only to realize seconds later. 'Oh... Lilith has a human form!'
When the realization hit, he sat up, which caused the honey-badger woman to wake up as her yellow eyes slowly opened. As the two met, a big grin appeared on her beautiful face before she lunged forward and bit down on his neck.
A shiver shot down his spine as he spoke. ''Why are you attacking me again, Lilith? I tried my best.''
The young woman leaned up while giving him a love-filled smile as she grabbed his collar and quickly kissed him. Atlas was surprised, but returned it as he held her waist before the two broke apart.
Lilith beamed, ''Because you're my Master and that's what we do with people we like,'' she explained.
Following that, the duo stood up as he asked, ''How do you feel?''
The honey-badger woman stretched before answering in a cheerful voice, ''I feel brand new, Master, but I'm seeing all kinds of things I don't know.''
'My memories,' Atlas thought when hearing her explanation. 'Lunara said some of my soul was used to heal her.'
He shrugged after thinking as the two continued walking through the jungle while heading back to the Frostfang Camp. While travel they started getting to know each other more which made them happy.
The jungle was alive with sounds as they made their way back to the camp. She moved with a natural grace, her animal ears twitching at every rustle in the underbrush. Atlas still led the way with careful steps.
When they finally reached the camp, the sight of the familiar clearing brought him a wave of relief. He raised his hand, summoning the energy needed to open the portal to the Otherworld.
It shimmered into existence, and one by one, Ulric and the rest of the wolf people stepped through. ''You're alive!'' Ulric exclaimed when appearing.
Atlas chuckled while nodding. ''Yes, I'm fine, now make yourself at home. Aurora will be happy to welcome you to the camp.''
''Thank you for all your help, there's a lot of work to do but with our numbers, it can be done,'' Ulric answered while taking in the hundreds of white wolves that wandered around.
