Chapter 534: Chapter 534 - Upgrading the Bow of Artemis
Chapter 534: Chapter 534 - Upgrading the Bow of Artemis
As soon as Broken stepped into Deadbay City, chaos greeted him. People were running in panic, while monsters rampaged through the streets, tearing apart everything in their path.
He was torn should he prioritize saving the city or focus his resources on the battle outside the walls against the three Guardians?
If left unchecked, the destruction within the city would only grow worse. But if he didn't help take down the Guardians, more players would fall, and that would become an even bigger disaster.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Elincia would likely return soon, thanks to the lifted time penalty, and more players were expected to arrive. This was the moment-he had to capitalize on it and end this war quickly with a decisive strike. Broken knew he needed to upgrade himself immediately, pushing for a risky, high-stakes move that could potentially turn the tide.
Without wasting any more time, Broken activated one of his skills.
[Nature's Herald (Active Skill)]
[You've summoned Tiger Lily.]
A massive nature beast resembling a tiger appeared instantly. As if it already understood its orders, Tiger Lily dashed through the streets, spreading out to confront the rampaging
monsters.
"Pawpaw, we've got plenty of food here. Go wild!" Broken called out, summoning another of his beasts.
Energy, swirling with red and black hues, crackled before him as a small kitten with two horns materialized. Its tiny form didn't look like much, but the menacing grin on its face told a different story.
"Food... I'll eat a lot," the kitten purred ominously.
The kitten melted into the shadows, vanishing, and then darted off across the city, ready to cause havoc.
"Blaze, time for you to rampage too!"
Blaze-the skeletal horse wreathed in flames-appeared with a fiery snort. It reared up on its hind legs and then bolted down the streets, leaving a trail of fire in its wake as it charged into the fray.
Broken was faced with a tough choice, but deep down, he knew what needed to be done. As he glanced over, he noticed a merchant hurriedly trying to lock up his Equipment Materials Store.
"I've got a pretty solid plan," he murmured to himself. "But I'm going to need to make a few small gambles."
Without hesitating, Broken sprinted toward the store, quickly dispatching the monsters that were trying to break in. Once inside, he spotted the shopkeeper, trembling in a corner.
"I need Blessed Stones. You got a thousand of them?"
The man's eyes went wide with fear. "What are you doing? Please, don't hurt me!"
"I'm not here to hurt you. I just need some Blessed Stones."
Panicking, the merchant threw a few stones in Broken's direction before scrambling to his feet, babbling, "Please, don't! You're just taking advantage of this chaos to rob me, thief!"
"Do you have more?" Broken asked, urgency creeping into his tone. "I need a thousand-no, make that a hundred, and I need them now."
"Get out! Don't hurt me!" the man shouted, his face pale with terror.
"How much for these? I'll pay you right away!"
But the merchant had already disappeared into the back room, leaving Broken standing alone in the store.
"I'll come back later to settle the payment, sir!" Broken called out.
Ignoring the silence, he pulled out the Bow of Artemis and carefully attached nine Blessed Stones to it.
"Please, make it +18," he whispered.
[You've succeeded in upgrading the Bow of Artemis to +18.]
[Congratulations, you've successfully completed the quest...]
Broken skipped the notification from the Quest and continued on to the next thing he was going to do.
[+18 The Bow of Artemis]
[Grade: Epic]
[Attack Power: 423-489
Accuracy +32
Attack Speed +16
Movement Speed +24]
Though it wasn't easy, upgrading an Epic-grade item was still much simpler than a Legendary-grade one. And now, for the first time, he had succeeded-and in just a single try.
He had the bow with a +18 enchantment. With that in hand, Broken was ready to move forward with something else he had been planning for a long time. He reached into his inventory and took something out.
[Item Grade Enhancer Ticket]
[With the Item Grade Enhancer Ticket, you can take one of your boring items and upgrade it to something much more exciting! It's like a magical lottery ticket, with a 70% chance of winning an Epic-grade item, a 10% chance of winning a Unique-grade item, and a tiny 1% chance of winning a Legendary-grade item! So take a chance and let the Ticket do its thing - you never know what you'll get!]
He had earned the ticket by completing the 'Crafting Epic Equipment for the Hero' quest, and now felt this was the perfect moment to use it.
"One percent chance of getting a Legendary item. It's worth a try!"
Besides, he knew he'd have to use the ticket eventually, and it felt like the ideal match for the Bow of Artemis. After all, he wasn't planning on abandoning the bow for something else
anytime soon.
There was still a 70% chance the bow would remain in its current state-at least he hoped for a Unique-grade—and he knew any upgrade would be significant, especially since he had two sets of bow skills that could deal massive damage.
Without a second thought, he tore the ticket in half. Instantly, a glowing aura surrounded the bow, and a flood of notifications began to fill his vision.
[Item Grade Enhancer Ticket used.]
[Determining the outcome...]
[You will need to wait for 10 seconds to find out the results.]
[10]

"Damn, are you kidding me?!"
[1]
[Congratulations! You have succeeded in getting the most optimal results you can get; damn
you, lucky bastard!]
[Your bow has been upgraded to a Legendary-Grade +18 The Golden Bow of Artemis!]
[An incredible feat has been achieved! You are the first player to successfully, albeit
indirectly, upgrade a Legendary Weapon to +18.]
[As a reward for this outstanding accomplishment, you have received 20 Stat Points.]
[You have also been awarded 2 Luck Stat points.]
Broken stared in disbelief at the notification. He had done it-the impossible had actually
happened.
The Bow of Artemis had truly been upgraded to Legendary-grade!
His curiosity got the better of him, and he quickly checked the new skills now attached to the
bow.
