Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 592 Big brain prowess

Although it was annoying to find a solution to a problem that didn't affect him directly, Rain didn't mind trying to help his troops. During the dungeon break, the weather in the region didn't change, but the skeletons emitted a lot of cold and so their attacks became more potent. Rain assumed that fighting a solution to that would help him as well in the future.

"Oh yeah… the beast king, the beast queen and that big guy knew how to emit steam from their bodies," Rain thought. "That should help a bit, but it will make everyone tired more easily."

Rain recalled that Alion and his mother were from the same tribe and they should know how that technique worked, but they were living in peace helping in the agriculture despite the fact that the guy was a power house. Rain decided not to bother them with that and let them continue to live in peace… they might get in trouble if they spread the knowledge of their secret techniques, after all.

"We can't use spells, but we can use Magic Boost and the dungeon won't be able to suck that much mana from us," Rain thought. "Maybe I can use that… if I change Magic Boost a bit."

Rain thought of making their mana inside their bodies heat up … that would avoid the damage caused by the cold and of some ice attacks to some extent. Still, that would take a while to perfect and teach everyone. If only the monsters left some materials behind, they would be able to use the parts of the fire dungeon there and the inverse would also help.

While Rain was thinking about that and smashing some golems, he realized that he didn't have to rely solely on magic for that… he was a man from ''modern'' earth for a reason.

After Rain successfully cleared the final floor of the dungeon, he wasted no time and swiftly made his way to the nearest city with a bustling market. His objective was clear: to acquire a particular thing that he had in mind. Once he arrived in the city, he quickly navigated through the bustling streets, heading straight for the marketplace.

Amidst the vibrant array of stalls and vendors, Rain sought out a specific item—oil made from seeds. This type of oil was known for its versatility and various applications. Whether for cooking, illumination or even as an ingredient in various potions, seed oil was a valuable and commonly traded commodity in the market.

Before long, Rain put some of it in his guard and then used a bit of magic to ignite it… it began to burn quite easily. Moreover, Rain kept feeding it with mana, and the oil lasted for longer.

"The heat isn't bad, but it will be better if we don't use too much mana," Rain rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Most of the warriors fight at close range, but maybe we can do this."

Rain thought that he should try to use more of his knowledge from Earth to help achieve his goals… he avoided that since the war when he killed the two generals from the magic people because he didn't want to put that world on a path of destruction, but maybe he could control the access of that technology somehow.

"I guess I will have to show the strongest spell from Earth to the people of this world, the legendary spell called bazooka," Rain thought and laughed a little.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

In any case, Rain at least made the warriors test things with the oil and fire. It made them feel warmer inside the dungeon, and that increased their attack power when they used spears, but just a bit, and they didn't fight like usual since they were afraid of burning each other.

"This is quite expensive as well and I don't get any income from the dungeons, so back to the drawing board," Rain thought and then sighed.

Rain only found a better answer to that issue a few days later… When some of the warriors were trying to make a campfire to cook some rabbits, he thought that he could use that… not the fire or the campfire, but heating things up in the dungeon a bit.

Rain came up with a clever plan using earth and fire magic. He created several thick mirrors and arranged them in front of the dungeon entrance. These mirrors focused and intensified the sunlight into a concentrated beam, which he aimed directly at the entrance.

The effect was impressive. The concentrated light caused the ceiling inside the dungeon's entrance to heat up rapidly and eventually begin to burn. Rain watched with a proud and triumphant grin as his strategy worked flawlessly. He had found a clever way to bypass the dungeon's defenses and make it less comfortable for any potential foes inside.

While the warriors were shocked by Rain's ingenuity, he explained to his wives how that worked since they were looking at him like he had just created a very dangerous tool, and they were right. Mirrors can reflect powerful sunlight beams through a process called specular reflection. This amazing phenomenon occurs due to the interaction of light with the smooth and polished surface of the mirror.

Mirrors have a highly polished and smooth surface. The glass that forms the front of a mirror was coated with a thin layer of metal, typically aluminum or silver, which is made as smooth as possible to minimize scattering and diffraction of light.

When sunlight, which is composed of various colors of visible light, strikes the mirror's surface, the smoothness of the mirror ensures that the light waves do not scatter in random directions. Instead, they interact with the mirror as a whole.

"... Now that explains why the mirror seems metallic, how did you come up with this?" Terra asked.

"It is all thanks to my big brain prowess, I definitely didn't rip off ancient civilizations," Rain said. "You'd better remember that." Enjoy new adventures from empire
