Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 586 Chase

Rain put his mana at work. He decided to harness all of his available mana and channel it to manipulate the surrounding clouds in a massive area of hundreds of kilometers. His objective was to search for any signs of unusual sources of energy, which could potentially hold crucial information.

As Rain simply infused his mana into the clouds, and since it was already snowing in the area, his mana began to disperse silently and seamlessly throughout a vast expanse. Importantly, this diffusion was carried out in such a way that it left no visible traces or clues to his actions.

With the clouds acting as conductors for his mana, Rain effectively extended his sensory reach across the skies, covering a significant area in his search for any peculiar energy signatures or anomalies.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

While Rain was drinking some potions, he analyzed all the sources of mana that he could find in the area. It was really hard to process all that much information, but he eventually found some spots that seemed large and had some different elevations of mana… even if it was only a little bit.

"No wonder I didn't find them… they are too far away and even with Magic Eyes, I wouldn't be able to pick them up," Rain thought while squinting his eyes.

Rain hadn't explored those areas yet. Not to mention, they were in two different directions… Rain didn't expect that the enemy would have more than one base, but it was a good idea since a bigger one would leave clear traces behind of its existence.

Rain decided to head to the West since it was in the area close to the magic people's territory… Now that Rain thought about it, both locations were pretty close to those countries. No wonder the Enemy was able to attack them and leave without leaving so many traces behind.

"The beast queen still is missing… but one of her underlings said that the person who recruited them was a demi-human," Rain thought as he was flying.

After two hours, Rain reached the area where he found the suspicious levels of mana and he actually found a large Island there.

While looking around for a while, Rain wondered how he should proceed… he needed to at least find an entrance or something that would lead to their base. Still, much to his surprise… Rain suddenly felt a shiver and he turned his guards into ice blades when he felt a danger for his life like never before.

In the next moment, a cloaked figure appeared thirty meters away from Rain, and he couldn't believe what Magic Eyes were showing him.

"What the fuck are you?" Rain thought while feeling his skin crawling.

"... You are an anomaly, you shouldn't interfere," The hooded figure said.

When Rain heard the enigmatic voice, it left him with an unsettling feeling. He found it incredibly challenging to pinpoint its origin, much like the massive and stagnant mana that accompanied it. It was as if this presence defied conventional perception and understanding.

In Rain's experience with his Magic Eyes, when he observed people, he could sense the ebb and flow of their aura. This dynamic energy movement served as a clear indicator of their vitality, level of danger, and even their degree of focus. However, when he attempted to apply this insight to the mysterious entity, he encountered an entirely different phenomenon.

This entity's mana and voice seemed utterly still and unchanging. It was as though Rain had simultaneously heard and felt the words and mana emanating from this being over an extended period of time…

"If I am an anomaly, you take the title of apex bizarre things that shouldn't exist in this world," Rain said.

"... You have been given a second chance without doing anything to deserve it. Use it well to stay away from problems, or you will end up losing it."

The hooded figure suddenly disappeared and in the next moment, the island that Rain saw began to sink in the ocean… at the middle of it… it felt like something at its foundation had just vanished.

"That guy… he knew that I am a reincarnated person," Rain thought as he watched the island being destroyed. "How?"

Explore hidden tales at empire

One of the reasons why Rain didn't feel like teaching his friends magic eyes was the possibility that they would be able to see his energy and soul and they would be able to tell that he wasn't from that world originally. Still, that didn't happen because Magic Eyes had such limits… However, it seemed that the guy managed to easily see behind Rain's new form.

That was unnerving… until now, Rain lived thinking that no one knew of his secret, but now that someone knew it, he felt really bothered by it.

After not so long, Rain approached the island when the destruction ended and he saw a huge hole in the shape of a square being filled by snow and ocean water. It was at least twenty kilometers wide and long, probably as deep as well.

"That guy… he teleported all of this," Rain thought. "Their entire base in a single moment."

The mana that Rain saw in the body of the enemy was so immense that Rain didn't find it weird if that guy could do that… Rain couldn't even dream of having such a cast amount of mana.

Forgetting about being hundreds of times bigger than his, it was thousands of times bigger… it was so thick that it felt like nothing would make that guy use even a small percentage of mana, no matter how much he lived.

In any case, when the sun was rising, Rain was able to check things on the other base and he only found the same thing…. another massive hole being covered in water and snow.

Rain couldn't give up after only seeing that much… Even if the enemy could teleport, the fact that they decided to escape instead of fighting revealed that Rain still had a chance of winning…
