Chapter 114 The Offering's Edge
Turning to David, Horizon's gaze darkened, a cold smile tugging at his lips as he approached. "Now then," he said, voice low and steady, "it's time for you to tell us how to get out of here."
The undead couldn't speak, but Horizon had the ability to communicate with them through thoughts. They responded only when directly addressed, their answers always succinct and to the point.
"What did they say?" Nyx inquired.
"Hmm . . . they mentioned that the monolith we spotted earlier is the key to the other region," he replied.
"How did they know that?" Nyx pressed, her brow furrowing. "We've checked that monolith before and found nothing even with our appraisal skills."
"They can read the symbols inscribed on it," Horizon explained, glancing back at the path they'd traveled.
"Oh, then what are we waiting for? Let's head back!" Nyx exclaimed, enthusiasm radiating from her.
Just as she was about to stumble forward, Horizon deftly grabbed her tail.
"Wait a minute," he cautioned, his expression turning serious. "David also mentioned that activating that monolith means we'll have to face a guardian of this forest."
Nyx raised an eyebrow, irritation flashing across her face. "Is that a problem?" She swatted at Horizon's hand, demanding he release her tail.
"Well, not really," Horizon admitted, glancing at David, Damon, and Ford, all of whom had stats already in the 400-500 range. He was confident that they could take whatever guardian that was.
Though there was nothing wrong if they were cautious too. "But we need to be careful. We don't know how high the guardian's stats are."
As they moved toward the location of the monolith, the atmosphere thickened with tension. Suddenly, they noticed a group of players gathering at the site.
"Looks like they beat us to it," Nyx said, snickering like it wasn't a big deal.
There was only one group present, and from the emblem on their badges, it was clear they were the Wingless Valkyries, a first-rate guild.
If Horizon approached them, they would surely inquire about the undead in his company. They were the leaders of Nightshade and Iron Fist so it would only complicate matters.
With a swift decision, he motioned for Nyx to hide, retreating out of sight to observe the situation from a safe distance.
Leading the group was none other than the stunning Seraphina, whose beauty was rivaled only by the distinct charms of her four companions. Each member of the Wingless Valkyries possessed their own unique allure, creating an impressive sight.
Horizon remained hidden, his eyes analyzing the group's every movement.
Seraphina was a Tier-5 Celestial Blade with 400-500 range stat.
Seraphina was one of the commander of Wingless Valkyries, known for her unmatched swordsmanship and her ability to call upon divine power in battle. She wielded a radiant, holy sword capable of dealing devastating damage to both physical and magical enemies. Her celestial skills also granted her limited healing abilities, making her a balanced mix of offense and defense.
Moreover, Seraphina stood a head above the rest, a true expert hailing from a first-rate guild. Dealing with her would undoubtedly present complications.
"Do you know how to activate it?" Aria asked, her voice steady despite the tension in the air. She was a Tier-4 Siren Enchanter, with stats in the 300-400 range, her expertise evident in her demeanor.
Aria used enchanting melodies and illusions to control the battlefield, manipulating enemy minds and bolstering her allies. She could charm enemies to fight for her, or cast powerful debuffs that leave opponents disoriented. Her beauty was only matched by her cunning, and her class allows her to stay elusive in battle.
Seraphina hesitated, her brow furrowing in thought. "I'm not entirely sure, but if I decipher it correctly, we'll need an offering to activate it."
"An offering?" Dawnfire stepped forward, frowning. "What kind of offering?"n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Dawnfire was a Tier-4 Pyromancer with a 200-300 range stat.
A master of fire magic, Dawnfire brought raw destruction to the battlefield. She excelled in area-of-effect damage, raining down fiery meteors or conjuring infernos to incinerate her foes. Her fiery temper matched her power, and she could push her magic to dangerous levels when provoked.
"Maybe we should offer some kind of food?" Fiora suggested, her youthful voice brightening the somber atmosphere. She was the youngest member of their group, and a newbie.
Fiora was a Tier-2 Spirit Druid with a stat range of 50-100.
Fiora was a nature lover and spiritual guide of the guild. She commanded the powers of nature to heal allies, summon powerful animal companions, and control the elements of earth and wind.
Although she had lower stats compared to others, her support skills and summons make her invaluable in battles.
"Don't be ridiculous, Fiora. It couldn't be that simple," Velvet retorted, her tone sharp as she shot down the suggestion.
Velvet was a Tier-3 Phantom Rogue with a 100-200 range stat.
Velvet was the stealthiest member of the Wingless Valkyries, known for her ability to strike from the shadows and escape without a trace. She specialized in quick, lethal attacks with daggers, poisons, and traps. Velvet also excelled at gathering intelligence and sneaking into enemy territories unseen.
Wingless Valkyries, this all-girls guild combined beauty, power, and unique abilities, with each member bringing a specialized skill set to the team.
Together, they formed a formidable and well-rounded group that even Horizon had to tread carefully around. The synergy of their skills and the weight of their reputation created an air of intimidation that loomed over the battlefield.
"We should just turn them all into undead," Nyx suggested, her eyes glinting with mischief.
"I can't. I'm at my quota for the day," Horizon replied, shaking his head. [Raise Corpses] would reset the next day, so he couldn't use them now.
"And honestly, it wouldn't be that easy. A first-rate guild like theirs operates on an entirely different level than smaller, lesser-known guilds like Nightshade and Iron Fang. I'm sure they have powerful combos and their coordination is a league above the rest."
He scanned the group again, noting their impressive equipment. "We're not just dealing with random players here; they've got experience and strategy on their side."
