Chapter 92: What Are We?
Calista took an important step in her career but she was worried about Lucas because he had the power to make certain decisions regarding the script.
There was no doubt that he was the one that added the kissing scene but she hoped that this was all that would be added.
Calista wanted a clean slate, she was a beautiful woman who knew the industry weaponized sex to drive up their sales.
This wasn't just directed at men but women as well except that it was women that tended to complain about this portrayal rather than men.
Men didn't care too much about this but Calista wanted a clean slate, there was no reason for this movie to get sexual.
And if he was unable to sleep with her, then he might just make her get naked in the movie so he gets to see her naked either way.
This would rub her the wrong way but there was nothing she would be able to do if this was the case. Even though she didn't know how she would feel about it, even some of the greatest celebrities have been nude in their movies.
The pay was worth it and Calista wasn't sure she would decline the role either way considering a contract had been signed.
She made her way into his office with Lucas' secretary ushering her in.
Lucas was the only one that had an office, the others used makeshift offices showing the difference in their status.
"Calista Wave, what can I do for you?" Lucas asked, typing away at the laptop in front of him.
"Luca-!" Calista was interrupted with a raised finger.
"I prefer sir," Lucas informed her without looking up. Calista realized that he had reestablished his authority, taking away any formality that was granted by their earlier interactions.
"Sir, I have come to ask about the change in script," Calista requested but Lucas didn't once look at her.
"What about it? You don't get paid to question the script," Lucas reminded her of her role because he knew that regardless of the altercations he made to the scene, as long as it complimented the overall nature of the film then there was no reason why it should be questioned.
"That isn't what I meant sir…" Calista responded; she didn't know what else to say.
She knew it wouldn't be smart to get on his nerves.
"Besides, I have seen the movies you have acted in, don't pretend like kissing is above you," Lucas shot these words at her. Calista wasn't hurt by this, she made this decision at that point in her career and had no regrets.
"I don't mind the altercations to the scene because it brought out the relationship between the characters that resonates with the audience so if anything, you showed your genius with that subtle change and made the movie into a masterpiece. That is all I wished to say," Calista lied, she wanted to ask him why he made the change but Lucas wasn't as friendly as she thought.
And finally, Lucas looked up at her, men and their fragile egos.
Calista knew how to manipulate them and Lucas was like any other man who was burdened with the need for external validation for their 'genius'
"That is the first smart thing you have said since you entered my office. If that is all, you may leave," Lucas' attention returned to his laptop.
Calista knew she had dodged a bullet, the last thing she would want was to get on his bad side.
There was no telling what the future held but she wanted to have all the cards to give her career the boost.
She left the office after saying nothing but massage his ego and she hated it, she wished she could confront him and tell him it was unprofessional to adjust the script without informing anyone else.
But as Calista was walking out. Lorenzo was going in as they both gave each other a nod.

Kyle allowed Jane to feed on some leftovers but she was too tired to do anything else at the moment.
She just wanted to lay in bed with him and this was a wish that Kyle granted her.
"Kyle…" Jane wanted to speak but she was hesitant, she didn't know what the outcome of this conversation would be.
"Are you alright?" Kyle questioned, his hand wrapped around her torso with the other acting as a pillow on which she placed her head on.
Even if it did cut off blood circulation, it was worth it for now because he knew that Jane had just taken a very important step with him.
Aftercare was just as important as the act itself and this was Kyle trying his best to make her feel like she wasn't alone.
"I-I'm fine… I just…" Jane stopped herself once again but Kyle could only imagine how intense her feelings were for him if she granted him access to her body in this manner.
He knew that this was something special for her, it was her first experience with a man.
"It is fine, Jane. I enjoyed myself and I'm glad you trusted me enough to take this step with me," Kyle reassured her.
Jane was facing away from him so he couldn't see the smile that crept up on her face.
"I-I really really like you, Kyle and I'm scared that this isn't as real for you as it is for me," Jane confessed, laying bare her vulnerability and saying something she would have thought too much about.
She couldn't believe she had said it but it was one of those things that had to be said because she wanted to know where she stood with Kyle.
Kyle understood her concern, it would be strange if she didn't want to know after what they had just done.
"Look at me," Kyle instructed her to which Jane readjusted herself to face him.
He brushed her hair behind her ear because Kyle knew he felt something for Jane even though it wasn't as deep as what she felt for him.
"Touch my chest," Kyle guided her hand and she placed her hand firmly on his chest.
It was beating like crazy and Jane was surprised that it was this erratic.
"That's what you do to me, Jane. I can tell you without doubt, that this is real for me," Kyle reassured before kissing her forehead.
Jane flashed him a full teeth smile before snuggling up on him, this was all she needed to hear.
To know what she felt wasn't one-sided.
