Great Demon Sun Wukong

Chapter 189 - 181 Preparing to Enter the Supreme Pool

When Wukong’s Divine Sense entered the Cornucopia, he discovered an illusory world reminiscent of a dream, akin to a brilliant starry sky where all manner of treasures danced non-stop, each following its own trajectory amidst clumps of Star Clouds. It was, in essence, a miniature Cosmic Star River.

It was then that Wukong realized this seemingly insignificant Cornucopia was definitely a Supreme Treasure, a Divine Object capable of conjuring a Cosmic Star River within itself, undoubtedly ranking far higher than a Supreme Divine Artifact.

He spread his Divine Sense wide, like a net, and stirred through the Star River as if catching fish. This was more a manifestation of Wukong’s mischievous nature, as despite having matured significantly, he retained a playful streak.

After several fruitless attempts and losing interest, Wukong began to select carefully. However, he couldn’t discern most of the items suspended within the Star Clouds. No matter how he probed with his Divine Sense, he couldn’t penetrate the slightest bit.

Just when Wukong was becoming impatient, a sudden fluctuation in his Divine Sense seemed to pick up an elusive call. Following the summons, he extended his Divine Sense towards it. But as soon as his Divine Sense stretched out halfway, the calling sensation disappeared without a trace, leaving no hint of its presence.

Quite perplexed, extremely so! Could it have been an illusion? But how could an illusion feel so real?

Feeling around again and finding nothing, Wukong became somewhat frustrated. Thus, losing his patience, he searched hastily for a while longer before carelessly selecting a earth-yellow small banner and withdrew his Divine Sense. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

As soon as Wukong’s Divine Sense retracted, all eyes gathered on the small banner taken out with his Divine Sense. However, no one, including Caomei and Xi Zhao, could recognize what it was.

The three-inch-long earth-yellow banner seemed utterly ordinary, lacking massive Elemental fluctuations or any apparent infusion of Heaven and Earth Laws. Even Wukong, after a close inspection, felt he had unluckily picked up garbage. However, only the General holding the jade box showed a flash of surprise in his eyes, as if he wanted to say something but eventually gave up.

"Two have already chosen their rewards; it’s time for the three of you to do the same!"

Seeing that Xi Zhao and Wukong had made their selections, the Flame God, unable to contain his excitement, strode forward and plunged his slightly fiery Divine Sense into the delicate Cornucopia.

The Flame God was not as hesitant as Wukong, and soon, he took something from within. To everyone’s surprise, it was a fiery red pearl. When asked about it, the Flame God shook his head and said, "I can only sense powerful fire elements inside, beyond that, I feel nothing!"

It seemed that none of the Domain Lord’s collected items were ordinary; even Xi Zhao’s keen vision could not recognize them.

"Xi Zhao, are you alright?" Seeing that Xi Zhao had put away the Token and appeared calm, Wukong asked with some concern.

"I’m fine, just got a bit excited seeing some old relics from my life. About your banner, I seem to have a faint impression of it, but I need to think it over!"

Knowing Xi Zhao was fine, Wukong was relieved and then joined the Flame God and Xi Zhao to examine their newly acquired items. Now it was just Caomei and the little fox left; Caomei whispered something in the little fox’s ear, prompting an elated smile from the latter as she sauntered over to the General.

She likewise sent her Divine Sense deep within, and about a quarter of an hour later, the little fox came back triumphantly holding a pink flame with her Divine Sense, her face beaming with joy.

This time, the crowd recognized the pink flame.

The Peach Blossom Fox Honored Fire was a special type of fire used exclusively by the Fox Clan, with the Refinement of which not only would a Fox-Fire protect the body at all times, but it also significantly increased the chances for the Nine-Tailed Sky Fox lineage to evolve into a Ten-Tailed Honored Fox during their advancement to Nine Patterns Supreme.

A Ten-Tailed Honored Fox stood as the leader of the Myriad Demons, invulnerable to any harm from the Demon Clan. Acquiring this Peach Blossom Fox Honored Fire was undoubtedly an exceptionally lucky stroke for the little fox. Of course, it might also relate to the few words Caomei whispered, but who could say for sure?

When it was finally Strawberry’s turn, it became even simpler. Strawberry didn’t even move, but simply reached out with her Divine Sense on the spot, and almost simultaneously, she withdrew with a silver fierce tiger in her Divine Sense’s grasp.

What Strawberry obtained was, to be precise, a puppet, but the craftsmanship and materials used for this puppet were almost top-level. If it weren’t for the lack of any signs of life in the tiger, just by appearance alone, one would be absolutely unable to tell whether it was a puppet or a real tiger.

After acquiring the silver fierce tiger, Strawberry touched its forehead lightly with her finger, at which the White Tiger suddenly became a giant tiger over three meters tall. It truly looked majestic and intimidating, and Xi Zhao could feel that this puppet White Tiger definitely possessed the strength of a Nine Patterns Supreme.

"Strawberry, you’re not planning to use this thing as a mount, are you? Haven’t you always been riding the little fox?" Sun Wukong asked in surprise as he watched Strawberry preparing to climb onto the puppet White Tiger after she had made it larger.

However, his question was met with nothing more than an eye roll from Strawberry, followed by the little fox fiercely biting down on his thigh!

The General was utterly shocked to see that Strawberry seemed to be able to obtain whatever she wanted. He scrutinized Strawberry carefully but was clueless and could only assume it was a coincidence. After all, only the Domain Lord himself knew what was inside the Cornucopia, which they had used for assistance.

"Brave warriors, I shall take my leave first. Please rest up. When the Supreme Pool opens, someone will come to inform you. I wish you good luck!"

After speaking, the General seemed to recall something, turned around, and waved his hand. Five soldiers stepped forward, each holding a wooden box. At the General’s gesture, they handed the wooden boxes over to Sun Wukong and the other four, saying, "Almost forgot—the five wooden boxes contain your identity plaques. You must not lose them!"

Only then did the General and the five soldiers truly take their leave.

The five individuals opened their respective boxes and found a golden plaque inside, each bearing their names. After receiving their identity plaques, each person returned to their rooms.

From that moment on, they had one day and two nights. By sunrise the day after next, it would be time to enter the Supreme Pool. Therefore, everyone wanted to use this last bit of time to become familiar with or study the objects they had just received.

Time flew, and as the not-too-blistering sun rose, nine thunderous sounds of the ox-horn bugle shattered the silence at the gates of Supreme City. The deep and rough bugle, specially used by the military, made everyone who heard it involuntarily shudder.

Sun Wukong, the other three men, and the fox were all fully prepared, both in spirit and soul power, at their peak condition. As before, Strawberry was at the forefront, riding the giant puppet White Tiger over three meters tall. With one hand on her hip and the other pointing forward, she confidently shouted, "Let’s set off, to become the Supreme!"

After slapping the puppet White Tiger, Sun Wukong and the others expected it to leap forward with the little fox and race towards the city gates like a shot of lightning. Instead, they saw the puppet White Tiger leap up and land one foot down slowly before moving forward at a speed barely faster than a walk.

Sun Wukong and the others, who had been ready to dash off, nearly stumbled, and what was both aggravating and amusing was that the little fox was seriously imitating the puppet White Tiger’s movements. Moreover, Strawberry kept looking at the fox proudly, as if asking, "How well am I doing?"

What was supposed to be a triumphant departure turned into a post-breakfast stroll for the five of them! According to Strawberry, this was to commemorate the last time as a Six Patterns Saint before entering the Supreme Pool, for they would never again experience the joy of being a Six Pattern Saint afterward.

This left Xi Zhao and the others entirely befuddled, but still, after half an hour, they arrived at the South City Gate of Supreme City. By then, their group included precisely 2,800 people, all standing by in tight formation, ready to enter the Supreme Pool.

The remaining 500 people were set off from Transforming Thunder City—those two hundred belonged to Transforming Thunder City!
