Chapter 185: Leaderboard
'I've been getting weird potions lately… Is this some sort of a sign?' Shane thought as he recalled the Elixir of Starvation.
That Elixir starves anyone who consumes it. They would feel hungry no matter how much they eat. Nonetheless, it had an effect that enhanced metabolism and would allow you to eat even poison, dirt, or contaminated food without experiencing negative effects. However, once the Elixir's effect was gone, all the negative effects would appear in the body, and the Survivor would take damage.
The Necrotic Empowerment Elixir, on the other hand, seemed to be the most unusual Elixir out there. Why would he need something like this?
Shane shook his head for a moment but immediately, he recalled something.
He was informed by his previous self about his mission in this apocalypse. It wasn't to survive this apocalypse like a game but to end it like a real survivor!
'Since this one can be used to enhance zombies, then maybe an expert in this field could study this elixir and find something that could help remove their "zombification" or, perhaps, create a poison that could just kill all the zombies…
After all, in the many endings of the Zombie Apocalypse that he knew, the ending could be the creation of a vaccine, eliminating all the zombies, being killed by the zombies, or perhaps, being able to live in isolation without being bothered by the zombies ever again…
"Then, this elixir will also go to Anna…" Shane muttered as he recalled that he had already given her so many tasks. She was already in her laboratory most of the time…
Well, it wasn't easy getting a physician with an alchemist skill after all.
'Ahh… She probably needs some medical devices for this.'
Shane recalled as he realized that it also wouldn't be easy for her to study this Elixir without the apparatus that could help her do so.
For now, Shane decided to open the leaderboards.
Shane's eyes scanned the holographic display as it sprang to life, revealing the ranks of the apocalypse's most formidable survivors.
As he opened the Survivor Leaderboard, he was asked whether he would like to show his real name r not.
Opting for anonymity, he chose to be known only by his moniker.
Just like that, the Survivor Leaderboard unfurled before him:
1. Shadow Strider - Hidden - Level 21
2. Raven Guard - Hidden - Level 16
3. Iron Maven - Hidden - Level 16
4. Blade Whisper - Hidden - Level 16

'I'm still five levels ahead, huh…' Shane nodded in satisfaction.
With a sense of accomplishment and curiosity, Shane navigated to the Clan Leaderboard, where the collective might of the apocalypse's greatest factions was displayed:
1. Shadowbinders - Level 2
2. New Haven - Level 2
3. Blue Moon Clan – Level 2
4. ROTK Clan - Level 2

20. Eclipse Revenant - Level 1
"Eh? We're top 20?" Shane muttered but immediately recalled that they had never done any Clan Mission yet…
Shane then noticed that the top 10 of the Clan was already level 2, so he couldn't help but guess that they were given a reward for creating their Clan quicker than the rest.
Anyway, Shane could actually extend the leaderboard and find more Survivors and Clans. He felt that this leaderboard function was interesting and might have to check it from time to time.
Shane then proceeded to return to the estate as he thought of changing into his Crawler Set before going outside to hunt more zombies…
For now, however, Shane decided to open the Regional Chat to pass the time and to keep updated…
[ Tracy: Guys, do you think poison is effective against Runner Zombies? ]
[ Carlo: Of course, not... However, plugging your ears with a wet cloth can work well against Screamer Zombies... ]
[ Febby: Interesting tip, Carlo. But that's so random. I remember using that when my wife was angry… Haha… I miss her… Anyway, has anyone tried fire against Frost Zombies? ]
[ Melanin: What? There's a Frost Zombie? No… I think that Zombie was just hit by some sort of Liquid Nitrogen... ]
[ Mia: Fire's a no-go, Febby. And there is a Frost Zombie, Melanin… Is that even your real name? Anyway, Frost Zombies can absorb the heat. Better off with electric shocks. ]
[ Jasper: Yes… There is a Frost Zombie. I got the First Kill reward for it… Hehe… ]
[ Melanin: Huh? First Kill reward? What's that? I killed a Zombie Dog for the first time yesterday, but I didn't get a reward. It's the same with the others. How come you have that reward?
]
[ Jasper: Hahaha... You'll know someday when you get better. However, electric shocks will really work well against Frost Zombies. Right, I don't have that... Got to upgrade my gears then... ]
[ Febby: Thanks, Mia. Jasper, if you need a good electric coil, I've got a spare. ]
[ Tracy: Anyone else notice that the zombies are avoiding the old church ruins in the Mist City? ]
[ Carlo: Yeah, Tracy. There's something about that place. My guess? Some residual holy ground effect. ]
[ Mia: Could be worth investigating. Might find some relics that repel them. ]
