Chapter 358 The Heart Be Damned!
"Things have changed a lot with the little one," Ming Ye exhaled loudly as he leaned back into his chair, looking at the ceiling of the hall. His eyes were filled with tiredness and heaviness from everything he had witnessed in his life.
"Mhmm, she changed a lot," Xin Yan, sitting opposite the man, replied in a lost tone. Even though she was talking to the old man, she seemed a little lost.
'Just what happened in that place?' She wondered while twirling the cup of tea in her hands.
"Even though she never said it out loud, I could see how much she felt that the world was trapping her," Xin Yan could hear the heaviness in his voice as he heard her words. "I was always scared she might take some drastic step because of what happened."
"She has suffered a lot," Xin Yan replied with a sad smile on her face. "We should be happy that she made up her mind."
"We still do not know what that girl has decided," Ming Ye replied in a worried tone. "For all we know she could be planning to eradicate the whole world just to find some kind of weird technique to revive the body."
"You must be joking…" she let out a strained laugh hearing his words.
"You don't understand," he sighed seeing the strained look on Xin Yan's face. "You may not know this but our bloodline is a little special. It is so special that no one in our family has been able to fully understand the depths of the power of this bloodline."
"Maybe that man knows more about this bloodline than what I know," Ming Ye chuckled with an uncomfortable smile before adding, "What we do know for sure is that our bloodline is related to death."
Xin Yan sat there with a calm look on her face as she continued to listen to him explain about their clan bloodline.
"Awakening the power of our bloodline is not that simple." Suddenly the tone in Ming Ye's words turned grave. "To awaken our bloodline, we practically experience death and it changes us."
"Like Ruo'er's parents, some become cold and ruthless," standing up from his chair, the old man walked towards the window in the room. "They are willing to do anything as long as they can achieve their goals."
"What about the others?" Ming Ye was a little surprised at how calmly Xin Yan asked that question.
Despite his little shock, he calmed down and replied to her, "They are just like the first group but completely opposite at the same time. Instead of being indifferent and selfish, these people do everything in their power to achieve their goal and keep the people they love closer to themselves."
"So, which is she?" seeing the confused gaze of the old man, Xin Yan added, "Which group do you think she belongs to?"
"I… don't know yet," Ming Ye sighed and looked down. "I just want her to be happy no matter what path she chooses."
"You don't have to worry," Xin Yan suddenly stood up and straightened her robes. "I will always be there no matter what path she takes. As long as she has her heart in the right place everything is fine."
"You are not worried she might take some drastic measure?" Ming Ye asked with a confused look on his face.
"Tell me something…" Instead of replying, Xin Yan asked him a question in return, "Why is your family still standing even when you have people with two different thoughts? If it had been any other family, they would have been extinct by now."
Ming Ye raised his eyebrows hearing the question before he let out a deep sigh, "Even though our clan has people with different views, there is one thing I can proudly say, that is we always put our family before our needs. They all understand what it means to be a family."
"See, even though they have different views, they all have a common ground, and besides… Ever since I knew about her and my son, I have considered her as my daughter. She is like family to me too, but…." Xin Yan walked towards the door as she spoke and stopped in the middle of her track.
She looked over her shoulder before adding, "If she dared to bring my son back with some disgusting method, she would be facing me at that time."
Ming Ye could not remember since when was the last time he felt so close to death as he was at this moment. Even though there was no aura coming from Xin Yan, just the chilling heaviness in the air and the look in her eyes were enough to make him feel that.
He would have been angered if he did not understand the gravity and feeling behind Xin Yan's words. After staying for a while he nodded to Xin Yan's words, "I will trust your judgment, Xin Yan."
*Clang!*
With a nod, Xin Yan opened the door and stepped out into the corridor, her mind was filled with the talk she just had but her heart was somewhere else. She looked up at the sky at the moon while thinking.
'Should I look for him? It has only been a few hours, would he think that I am being too hasty?' Xin Yan sighed in dejection as she looked down, biting her lips in frustration.
'Ugh!! I will just look if he is awake or not.' After some deep thinking, Xin Yan reached a conclusion and used her soul sense to look at Noah's room and saw that he was not there.
'Where could he be?' She thought and just as she was about to spread her senses, she felt it.
*WOOSH!*n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
A heart-wrenching aura filled the air as she felt the anger and thirst for blood flowing in the air. Being familiar with the aura, she knew who it was immediately.
"What is happening?" Ming Ye, who was still in the hall, rushed out and asked with a serious look on his face.
"No need to worry, I will go take a look, you stay here." Without even waiting for his words, Xin Yan left the place and disappeared without a trace. Following the source of the aura, Xin Yan rushed to the spot and appeared in the garden where she saw Elysia disappearing in Noah's arms.
She could not help but feel herself choking a little seeing them this close when there she was standing far away from him, but what happened made her mind go blank.
She watched as Noah's lips touched Elysia's before she disappeared.
*Shatter!*
