Chapter 89 083 Watching

At that time, C country and the Iridium Star were on very good terms, and the launch of the Star Alliance had the whole world taken by surprise. After the Iridium Star did not show too much of a violent tendency, almost every Earth country was eager to squeeze into the Iridium Star embassy located in the Imperial Capital.

However, clearly, there were not enough staff in the embassy to entertain these uninvited guests.

A sign was erected in front of the Iridium Star Embassy that read: "Representatives of various countries, please visit the official website of the C country's Iridium Star United Empire Embassy and Earth Affairs Liaison Office to schedule an appointment for a meeting."

The British diplomat who rushed to the Iridium Star Embassy had some complaints and said to the bionic human clerk standing at the door, "Sir, the United Kingdom is one of the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and has a significant influence in the world; we hope your country will show the necessary respect and arrange this important meeting in advance."

The Iridium Star's face still wore a pleasant expression, but their reply was unyielding, "I'm sorry, no matter how glorious a past your country has had on this planet and how much influence it wields, it means nothing to the United Empire. The Iridium Star does not intend to overly interfere in Earth's affairs, nor do we establish diplomatic relations based on the size and power of countries.

Our rule is to schedule appointments online and follow the procedures, so you must follow our procedures."

This response left the British diplomat's face turning from red to purple. It was already offensive enough to other nations, but considering how C country now seemed all too cozy with the Iridium Star and was even discussing membership in alliances, the United Kingdom could not help but be concerned. But the Iridium Star officials were unyielding, giving him a flat denial.

Bitterly, he quickly took out his smartphone to check if he could schedule an appointment, only to find that appointments were booked up to three weeks later. The embassy only held four meetings a day, and with over a hundred countries and regions all trying to squeeze in, the British had no other options.

The diplomat from Cameroon next to him was smug; they had immediately tried to book two meetings upon discovering the Iridium Star embassy's official website, one for this week and another for the next. He was now considering whether he could sell one of the slots for a meeting, perhaps in exchange for some economic aid.

The words of the Iridium Star official about non-interference in Earth affairs were practically outright lies; their ambitious Chancellor had his mind full of plans on how to remodel Earth.

Across the ocean, in the political center of Washington, D.C., belonging to the Eagle Sauce Family, things were looking somewhat dim.

With the appearance of the Iridium Star people, Earth's headlines were now dominated by them, even overpowering attention to a bald Star Warrior master preparing for his personal fan meeting during a media interview, compared to a Pentagon official criticizing the C country for provocative actions in the South China Sea.

A gigantic sculpture made of Ohio Class nuclear submarines and B-2 bombers, partly embedded underground and standing tens of meters tall, loomed like a permanent scar in front of the White House, exuding a defiant solitude. Even recently, some heartless tourists had begun to specifically visit this "Monument" to take commemorative photos with it.

Concerns about the nuclear reactor leaking and causing nuclear contamination had led America to evacuate the residents, and President Beilevin had also evacuated the White House. Later, after signing a ceasefire agreement with the Iridium Star, they were informed that the nuclear reactor and fuel had been removed, posing no danger.

Nevertheless, Beilevin still had no desire to return there. The once representative of the world's power center, the White House, now had a view of this dark steel monument, a reminder of a humiliating moment. Beilevin preferred to set up his temporary residence and office in a small estate in Washington rather than return there.

Despite his reluctance to admit it, what Beilevin was thinking was for time to pass quickly; come January 20 of next year, let that big-mouthed fool deal with this mess, and he wouldn't have to endure this torment any longer. But until then, Beilevin still had to endure each day as it came.

"Have you figured out exactly what this Star Alliance is?"

Officials from the CIA and the Pentagon looked at each other, but it was Secretary of State Robinson who said, "For now, neither China nor the Iridium Star people have leaked enough information for us to accurately judge what kind of organization this is.

However, from the existing data we can speculate that this so-called Star Alliance might just be a façade for Iridium Star to attempt to annex Earth's nations. It's just that Iridium Star's annexation isn't through forceful occupation, but rather uses the model of the Star Alliance—it's simply a combination of carrot and stick.

They intimidate China with military force while also offering some irresistible benefits, such as the smog control project they launched. Eventually, when China joins this Star Alliance, it effectively becomes ruled by Iridium Star. Whatever Iridium Star asks them to do, they will have to comply."n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Although Robinson's guess was not accurate, it was not particularly far-fetched. Beilevin frowned and said, "Cunning aliens, achieving domination over Earth's nations without firing a single shot, using such methods."

Robinson continued, "What's bizarre is that both parties share a common language, so the Iridium Star people are probably more interested in allowing Chinese people into their United Empire. As for what they plan for other countries on Earth, it's still unclear.

The Iridium Star people haven't invited other nations to join the Star Alliance; all nations are in a wait-and-see state, unable to make a decision."

Yet Beilevin was very concerned: "But once China really merges with Iridium Star into this so-called Star Alliance and receives a large amount of alien technology, then the United States' global leadership position will collapse."

His words made everyone present somewhat silent, only none of them wanted to admit that the dominant position of the Eagle Sauce Family had already collapsed. Before the arrival of the Iridium Star people, it could still be said to be somewhat unstable, teetering on the brink. But once the Iridium Star people arrived, having destroyed most of the U.S.

military's nuclear arsenal and planted a monument outside the White House, the situation had quietly changed.

Now, countries on Earth first consider what the alien father thinks, not what the American father will think.

Beilevin asked a foolish question, "Should we also consider negotiating with the Iridium Star people about joining the Star Alliance?"

Immediately, someone came out in opposition, the Minister of Defense Aidington said, "That's not acceptable. The Star Alliance created by the Iridium Star people is actually a state, with its characteristics of sovereignty. The sovereignty of the United States comes from its people, and our values are worth defending.

If we were to kneel before them for some technological benefits, joining the Star Alliance and letting the Iridium Star people dictate, then the free nation our forefathers established would collapse, and the people would be indirectly enslaved by the Iridium Star and Chinese people."

Robinson also said, "I agree with Minister Aidington's words, not to mention that Iridium Star has shown no intention of wooing us; we even had intense conflicts with them before. It's not a good choice to rashly seek closeness with them. There are still mysteries in this whole matter. After the arrival of the Iridium Star Fleet, there are many things logically inexplicable.

For example, why is their Chancellor a Chinese person, why do they claim to come from a vast nation, yet they seem to have so few people, why don't they return to their own Empire, and instead linger on Earth?"

Beilevin speculated wildly, "Could they be lying? Is their Empire not as vast as they say, or can they not return?"

Robinson said, "These possibilities exist, but regardless, even if America cannot lead globally as it did before, we still have to guard our God-given homeland. Our constitutionally established rights and liberties are not negotiable.

Once we join the Star Alliance, the Iridium Star people might strip away these inalienable rights from us, turning our country into one without hope, a nation in chaos."

In the end, Robinson still whispered to Beilevin, "Mr. President, in the last month of your term, I think it's best not to make any major changes. Let your successor worry about these issues."

Beilevin was just tentatively suggesting this idea, not sure himself. Being persuaded by others, he also took the easy way out, nodding and saying, "Okay, for the time being we'll still focus on contacting the Iridium Star people, be careful not to ignite any disputes, and gather as much useful information as possible."
