From Human to Skeleton: Revived with Infinite System Crystals

Chapter 448 A successfully failed mission

Jalen spun around, his blade slicing through the air as he muttered, "Disable!"

A black energy erupted around Erebos, black liquid dripping ominously from his skin. Jalen thought he heard a faint, rhythmic whisper, "Tik, Tik, Tik."

For a brief moment, Jalen locked eyes with Erebos. A massive surge of pressure radiated from Erebos, pushing King Griswald and the Yami King away like ragdolls. Jalen quickly brought his hands up to press against the intense energy, trying to hold his ground. Erebos seized the opportunity, plunging his fist into the wound where the coin had struck, sending Jalen hurtling into the air.

Shit, he must have fused his flesh with the Devil King's essence to some degree. This is way too strong for a vampire other than the King! Jalen thought, his mind racing as he flew through the air.

Erebos, undeterred, parried Jalen's counterattack with equal ferocity. With a swift, fluid motion, Erebos brought his fists together in a powerful double-handed strike aimed directly at Jalen's head. The blow connected with a bone-crushing force, a sickening crunch echoing through the battlefield. Jalen's vision blurred from the sheer impact, stars exploding in his eyes as his head snapped back.

The force of the strike sent Jalen plummeting towards the ground like a meteor. He tumbled uncontrollably through the air, his body spinning wildly. The world around him became a chaotic blur of dark energy and shattered earth. The wind roared past his ears, and he could feel the intense pressure building as he hurtled towards the ground.

As Jalen fell, he fought to regain control, twisting his body mid-air to mitigate the impending impact. Despite his efforts, he hit the ground with a bone-jarring thud, the force of the landing sending shockwaves through the battlefield. Dust and debris exploded around him, creating a thick, choking cloud.

Pain radiated through his body, each nerve ending aflame with agony. He lay still for a moment, gasping for breath, his mind a whirlwind of pain and determination. Slowly, he forced himself to move, rolling over and pushing up on his hands and knees. The ground beneath him was cracked and splintered from the impact, testament to the sheer force of Erebos's blow.

Shit, I haven't been pushed this far since trying to spar with Victor... Jalen's thought was abruptly cut off as a hand gripped his throat, lifting him off the ground. Erebos sneered, "Now let's finish this!"

In a desperate attempt, Jalen clawed at Erebos's chest, his fingers scraping against the vampire's skin. Erebos pointed his hand in a stabbing motion aimed at Jalen's chest, ready to plunge it into his heart. But before he could strike, a crack of energy erupted beside them. A portal shot open, and Nana came jetting out, her eyes blazing with fury.

"Not on my watch, you son of a bitch!" she shouted.

With a snap of her fingers, the red glow around Erebos turned into a strong blue flame. The intense heat enveloped Erebos, who cursed out in pain as the flames seared his flesh. He dropped Jalen, who fell to the ground as he gasped for breath. Erebos staggered back, trying to extinguish the flames, his skin blistering from the intense heat.

"It's time we retreat," Erebos snarled, his eyes narrowing with a sly smirk. "The objective has been completed." He threw his hand to his side, and with a wave, the blue flames dissipated. Nana watched as the severe burns on Erebos's body began to heal, albeit slowly. Experience new stories on empire

General Mattison appeared shortly after watching on with worry as he saw King Griswalds eyes turn black.

Moments later, Sanguina and Todd emerged from the portal, rushing to Jalen's side. Sanguina's eyes scanned the battlefield, ensuring no immediate threats, while Todd knelt beside Jalen, helping him to his feet.

"Are you alright?" Todd asked, concern etched on his face.

Before Jalen could respond Erebos robbed there attention as Elithira eyes sharped with fear and worry as the soul of the Dragoon emerged above Erebos hand and the book she had given her sister was next to it.

Erebos chuckled darkly. "I have successfully claimed what I needed. I still have a few loose ends here, but for the most part, I have claimed everything I wanted and more. The next time you all see me, it will likely be too late. I do apologize, King Griswald, but it is time for you to depart from this place as well."

King Griswald, struggling to climb to his feet, looked confused and betrayed. "What do you mean? You promised this would end with my world free of these monsters..."

General Mattison do not side with them! They will bring nothing but destruction to our world! King Griswald shouted

Before Griswald could react, a portal emerged behind him, its swirling energy pulling him in. His cries of confusion and anger echoed briefly before he was swallowed by the void. The same fate befell the Yami King, who was also sucked into a portal, his dark form disappearing into the abyss.

Elithira, forcing herself to stand despite her injuries, shouted, "What did you do to my sister?"

Erebos simply smirked, his eyes gleaming with malice. Another portal emerged behind him, ready to whisk him away. Sanguina rushed forward, her voice filled with righteous fury. "You won't keep getting away, Erebos. We will corner you and stop your nonsense! This can't end with the Devil King being released, and you know that!"

For a brief moment, Erebos's smirk faded, replaced by a look of disgust. "You are the last person who should be talking. If you had done your job, most of this would have never happened." His words were sharp, each one a dagger aimed at Sanguina's heart. With a final, disdainful glance, he stepped into the portal, disappearing from sight.

The battlefield fell silent, the oppressive energy dissipating as the portals closed. Sanguina stood there, her fists clenched in anger and frustration. Elithira, still struggling to stay on her feet, looked at Sanguina with a mixture of pain and determination.

Jalen fell to his knees, his breath labored and shallow. "I'm sorry, Elithira," he managed to say between gasps. "I wasn't strong enough to finish him off. I should have just started the fight off from the get-go."

Elithira, still visibly shaken and weakened, placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "It's okay, Jalen. He had a lot of hidden plays that none of us were ready for. He even killed his own ally to steal his power." She hung her head, her voice tinged with despair. "We lost outright once again." With a frustrated cry, she pounded her fist into the ground. "I need to find my sister..."Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Jalen, despite his exhaustion, managed a small smirk. "Well, it wasn't a total loss," he said, holding up his blood-stained fur hand. With a careful motion, he unfurled his fingers to reveal a singular black skeleton finger that rolled onto the ground.
