Chapter 452 Hunting An Ember Wyvern (1)

*ROAR!*

The mighty draconian creature swiftly stood up and once more soared into the skies—a furious glint burning in its eyes.

With its high intelligence, the Ember Wyvern could tell that its current opponent was a young human, and naturally, it wasn't pleased that such a youngster wouldn't run at the sight of it.

It felt disrespected.

Shye had no such intentions, though; he just wanted to protect his little life.

'Tch, It would be troublesome to fight it like this…I have to do something about those wings…'

He had to at least wound its wings and slightly impair its ability to fly as it would be impossible to both fight it and escape as long as the draconian creature's wings were intact.

Realizing that the wyvern was on its way to attack him again, Shye did the same thing: narrowly dodging the creature's flaming maw with a flap of his wings.

Only, he didn't expect that the wyvern already predicted that he would do that, hence, the enormous creature suddenly spun mid-air, utterly surprising Shye who was now face to face with its claws.

'Crap! Power Slash!'

Hastily swinging both greatswords with all his might, an ear-rending metallic noise echoed across the highland grove he was currently out.

"Puhahhk!"

It was unwise of him to clash directly with a mighty wyvern, however, its huge claws were out to get him, what else could he do? It was a nice move from the wyvern.

Still, although Shye spat out a bit of blood, his injuries weren't that serious, causing pride to once again well inside his heart.

He just clashed with a mighty draconian creature—one of the perceived royal species of monsters, and he came out alive, getting away with only light internal injuries.

As a human, it was normal for him to be outmatched by a monstrous creature in terms of strength, hence, to survive a head-on clash was indeed something worth celebrating.

He didn't have much time to celebrate his mini-achievement, though, as the relentless wyvern once again turned around, opening its gigantic maw and aiming it toward him as it flew moderately close to the ground.

It seemed to be gathering orange particles in its mouth.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

'Shit! It's about to breathe fire!'

Realizing what the wyvern was doing, Shye swiftly ran sideways in hopes of escaping the flaming breath's range.

Sure enough, after one and a half seconds of charging, vermillion-colored flames fiercely emerged from the gaping maw, burning a huge area and exploding shortly after.

Luckily, Shye immediately realized what the creature was about to do, otherwise, he would've failed to escape the attack's astonishingly huge area of effect.

The wyvern once again flew skywards, though, not giving Shye any chance to attack.

'F*ck…when will it be my turn to attack?!' Shye inwardly cursed in frustration.

The darned wyvern would immediately increase its altitude after attacking, hence, he couldn't even get in range for an attack.

'Oh? What if I…'

An idea suddenly struck Shye, revealing the wyvern's intentions for retreating immediately after its attack, as the thought that entered his mind was identical.

The draconian creature was attempting to erode his mental fortitude by driving him to impatience.

A good plan, after all, humans tend to make lots of errors when frustrated.

'Heh, let's see who runs out of patience first then.'

Swapping his equipment set to that of a mage, Shye started firing projectiles at the wyvern, causing it to narrow its eyes while maneuvering left and right to dodge.

Shye's projectiles were no joke as the sheer size and power of even his basic spells would allow him to deal decent damage to the wyvern.

As a result, the enormous flying creature had no choice but to dodge the onslaught of elemental spells.

The wyvern was utterly shocked by the fact that someone so young could wield two different weapons.

Moreover, this was the first time it encountered a spellcaster who could cast spells continuously one after the other, leaving it confused for a short while.

However, it didn't believe that a mere human's puny mana reserves could maintain such a relentless pace of spellcasting.

Thus, it diligently dodged, even a bit excited, believing that the human might have already lost all patience, which explained the fierce onslaught of spells.

It could always retaliate once the human exhausts himself.

Only, the Ember Wyvern didn't expect that even after an entire hour of continuously dodging spells in the sky, the human would still have the mana to continue.

It kept on telling itself that the human would be exhausted any time now…for the last forty-five minutes.

Yet, the human remained steadfast in relentlessly firing spells—one after the other, from the beginning up to now.

Unknowingly, the wyvern started to grow impatient.

It cannot stand the fact that it looked like it was running away from the human.

If it could speak, it would definitely exclaim: "I'm not running from you! This is just a part of my plans!" to make itself feel better.

Unfortunately, it couldn't, and thus gradually felt uncomfortable allowing the human to stay in the aggressor's position.

After ten more minutes, the wyvern finally lost the patience battle and was enraged.

It swiftly turned around and headed straight towards Shye, opting to test the strength of his spells—a decision it slightly regretted doing.

*BANG!*

Shye's enormous fireball made clean contact with the wyvern's body. It chose to take the fireball as it believed that its slight resistance to its own element would allow it to take the attack rather easily.

However, it didn't expect that a good chunk of its scales would be destroyed by the huge explosion that ensued upon contact.

Although the skill didn't heavily hurt the wyvern, the damage it sustained was more than what it expected, making it appear bruised externally.

Such a shameful appearance against a lone young human male…

If it was seen by another Ember Wyvern, it would die of embarrassment.

Hence, it decided to end the fight quickly, not willing to play the waiting game with Shye anymore.
