750 Chapter 750: No longer a girl (2)
Avira sat next to Frost on the bed, her shoulders touching his as she relished in the comfort of his presence.
She didn't want him to leave but knew that he ultimately would. Frost was the first man she'd ever been smitten with. His appearance, his form, his voice, his personality, the timing of their meeting and the solace he brought her in her time of need, everything about him was perfect.
He was her first crush but unfortunately he didn't see her in quite the same way.
She was just a friend in his eyes, nothing more.
Avira with a hopeful heart asked him to stay but was rejected.
She sat in silence, her heart wounded by his reply
"…."
"…." Frost felt awkward but didn't know what to say. Avira was still his friend; he didn't want to lose that.
"Haaaaa" Eventually Avira let out a repressed sigh. She had failed but she wasn't going to let it get her down.
She stood up, straightened her clothes and turned to face her crush.
"I'm not going to give up Frost." Her eyes revealed a determined glint. "You may not be smitten with me right now, but you will be." She arched her back in an attempt to emphasise her curves.
"In the future you'll look at me the same way you look at Maya and Daki, I'm sure of it."
Frost's brow narrowed; she truly was determined.
"V?" Before he could reject her again Avira placed a finger upon his lips.
"It's not up to you Frost, I Avira Northrend, the future Empress of the Northrend Empire have declared it. You can try to resist, delude yourself or even run and hide but eventually you will be mine and I will be yours hehehe." Strangely Avira was laughing. She was filled with confidence and joy.
She would chase after him, hunt him down and make it impossible for him to live without her.
Her mother had taught her from a young age that if she truly wanted something then she should do everything in her power to get it.
Until now there was nothing she strongly desired but now there was and his name is Frost.
Frost felt a shiver run down his back as he saw madness and obsession in Avira's eyes. She had transitioned from a meek lamb into a determined wolf in an instant .
Strangely her shift in nature actually drew him in rather than repelling him. There was change in the way he looked at her.
Her magic seemed to be working on him already but clearly there quite a ways to go.
Frost grabbed onto her fair finger and moved it away from his lips. "You want to claim me V? To have me look at you in the same way I look at Maya and Daki?" He asked in a playful manner.
"Not want Frost, will!" Avira's face was inches away from his as she boldly declared her intentions.
In response his gaze blatantly ran across her body, gauging it with the perspective of a man rather than a friend.
"Hmph you'll be facing an uphill battle V; you've seen Maya and Daki. Tell me can you truly compare to them?" He said in a somewhat mocking manner.
Since Avira wanted to play this game then he wasn't going to be subtle anymore, time to put all the cards on the table.
"Right now no." Avira had seen both Maya and Daki up close, even General Jessica wasn't as stacked as they were let alone her.
"But in time perhaps. I'm still young after all." She was barely an adult thus a second growth spurt especially in those areas wasn't impossible.
"And if not it's merely a physical shape, there are many ways around that sort of thing." Magic could do wonders after all.
Frost raised his brow not expecting Avira to come out swinging, she wasn't even phased by his comments.
He then thought about or rather pictured her with a more curvaceous figure, older and with a bit more maturity.
'Hoh' Such an image was quite destructive.
"Hah you just pictured it didn't you." Frost's distraction didn't go unnoticed. She called him out on it while at the same time marking down a win for herself.
"…Maybe but it's still a hypothetical scenario, you may not have another period of growth." Frost neither admitted it nor denied it as the slightest speck of pink appeared on his cheeks.
"Besides do you really thinks that's the only reason….I'm not that shallow V."
Yes he had a clear type that he was attracted to but that wasn't the sole factor when it came to his love interests. If it was then he wouldn't haven't denied General Jessica or those many maidens that approached him in Furano.
"Explain." Avira was keen to know in great detail about his preferences so she could capitalise on it during her advances.
"Well off the top of my head you're the damn Princess of Northrend!" This was a massive red flag in his opinion. So much drama, political subterfuge and who knows what else.
Her status as a royal Princess and the possible future ruler of the Northrend Empire carried far too much baggage and responsibility for his liking.
Maya in comparison was truly free and unfettered. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
There was nothing holding her back and stopping her from being with him. The two were even already living together before they consummated their relationship thus there wasn't even a need for her to move.
And although Daki had her life and a well-established business back in Kranor it was relatively easy for her to give it up and move to the Dungeon.
The whole process only took a few weeks and within a couple months she had already opened up a new booming workshop with a long line of customers. And although her family and friends were still in Kranor there was nothing stopping her from visiting them in the future, nor them from visiting her, the distance wasn't all that far after all.
But could Avira really do the same? Could the future Empress of Northrend really live with him in Niflheim rather than Arkheart a city hundreds of kilometres south.
Frost would always be restricted to where his Dungeon was and thus he could not be the one to move.
"That's…." Avira didn't think that her status was such a problem. Didn't most people dream of becoming an Emperor or Empress.
If Frost was her consort he'd be in control of one of the largest and most powerful empires in Nova. What was the drawback?
She was clearly confused.
"Forget it, just know that you're high status, in my eyes is a negative." He couldn't be bothered to explain the depth of his reasons, nor did he want to reveal some of his closely guarded secrets right now.
"….Is it really that much of an issue?" She asked feeling somewhat deflated. From Frost's attitude it was clear that it would be a major impediment to their future relationship if there ever was one. She could work on her personality, work on her figure and hope for a growth spurt but her status? What could she do about that?
Was there a problem with Northrend? Did he not think highly of her Empire or was he against the idea of having to run such a large territory.
If it was the latter then that was fine she'd handle everything but if it was the former then how should she go about fixing it?
"Honestly….yes, it is V." Frost spoke truthfully.
He had no desire to be dragged into the troubles of the Northrend empire. Regardless of the incentives the detriments outweighed the benefits.
Avira's role as Empress would make any romantic relationship between the two of them all but impossible, of this he was certain.
"….."
"….." There was another awkward silence between the two of them. Frost had made his stance clear, and Avira was momentarily stunned by it.
And for the first time in her life she began to regret being of royal blood.
Why couldn't she get what she wanted?
Why was her life so unfair?
"Hmph this doesn't change anything Frost! I'll still win you over yet." Avira refused to give up, she'd like to see him reject her when she's as stacked as Maya and Daki. By then he'd be so enamoured with her figure that her position as Empress would be insignificant.
"….." Frost really thought he had her but no, she double downed on her convictions instead.
"Whatever, my words don't seem to matter anyway." He gave up, if Avira wanted to chase after him then she could, he wouldn't stop her.
"Hehehe now you're getting it." Avira giggled playfully and without reservation as a wide smile appeared on her lips.
She was truly beautiful in this moment, so much so that Frost was momentarily captivated by her.
Her laugh was so free and natural, her body relaxed and at ease. This was her true nature, the nature of V rather than the prim and proper Princess Avira that she'd been displaying recently.
And in that brief moment of captivation Avira made a move. She planted her soft lips upon his, kissing him both lightly and deeply before turning around and running out the door with a crimson red blush on her cheeks.
That was her first kiss.
