Chapter 761: Chapter 456: Nine Lives_1

The Rune dissipated rapidly the moment it touched his hand, and Logan hastily injected a stream of Spiritual Power to merely delay its vanishing. Naturally, Logan was unwilling to let the rune disappear, as it played an essential role in his research into the Seal.

He then brought out the Qian Kun Bead and entered its small world, where time flowed a hundred times slower. While half a minute in the outside world equaled an hour here, to Logan’s surprise, the Rune continued to fade.

At first, he didn’t understand, but realized in a moment that what took a minute to vanish outside still took a minute here. If the fading slowed by a hundredfold, then cultivation within the small world would also slow by the same amount. What would be the point of cultivating there? It’s the flow of time that’s different, not a hundredfold deceleration of time.

So how to stop it? Logan took out ten Top-Grade Spirit Stones and rapidly set up an array designed to slow time. Although it couldn’t stop time completely, it was a significant help—for him, it was just about studying the Rune.

The array spanned only one meter and could only last for ten minutes. At this moment, every second was crucial. Logan found that the Rune’s structure was surprisingly simple: just a casually drawn Technique, then placed atop the Barrier to monitor its status.

Could it be that the Barrier’s strength or weakness isn’t determined by the Rune but merely displayed by it? But if so, wouldn’t it be better to create an Array Spirit? After all, an Array Spirit already has consciousness and could manage the Seal more comprehensively, noticing even the tiniest irregularity.

Logan felt a headache coming on and tried to trace over the original Rune to restore it, but after more than a dozen attempts, they all ended in failure. If it was such a simple Technique, how could he, with his level of array knowledge, fail to replicate it?

“No, the Rune holds a powerful presence.” Logan injected a burst of Spiritual Energy to disrupt the Rune, but in return, the Rune generated a backlash and a strong force of the Law repelled him. In just a few moments, his own Spiritual Energy was devoured completely.

“I understand now,” Logan laughed, an epiphany striking him about the structure of the Seal, and he knew how to reinforce it.

Soon after, Logan stepped out of the Qian Kun Bead, and Oliver Bennett was already impatient, demanding an explanation from Logan for why he had peeled off a Rune. Although it was in the name of research, by doing so without consulting him, wasn’t that a bit too audacious?

“I’ve figured it out. The Seal is constructed from twelve different Laws,” Logan explained, “As for these Runes, they each represent the strength of an individual Law. If one Law vanishes, a corresponding Rune falls. The Rune itself only resonates with the Law, offering no real benefit to the Seal.”

“Therefore, even if all the Runes are removed, as long as the Laws of the Seal remain intact, nothing will go wrong. The previous four falling Runes indicate that the Maple Leaf had four Laws that either vanished or exhausted their power; it was a warning that replenishment was needed.”

Logan’s explanation left Oliver Bennett utterly astounded; was this skill not truly formidable, reaching such conclusions in just a moment’s time? The Seal had existed in the Immortal Realm for thousands of years, and while he often visited, he had never discerned any insight into its workings.

“Now we face a problem—I don’t know which twelve Laws constitute the array of the Seal. After all, there are countless Laws, and introducing the wrong one would certainly trigger the Seal’s backlash, weakening it further instead of reinforcing it through mutual repulsion.”

Logan looked at Oliver Bennett and asked, “So, is there a diagram of this particular Seal’s array, or perhaps some explanatory literature? There must be some clues, right?”

“I have absolutely no idea. If I knew such things, would I still be clueless?” Oliver Bennett felt helpless; his knowledge of the Seal was meager. After all, the Master of the Immortal Realm had died a thousand years ago, and the Immortal Celestial Gate had long since changed leadership.

“This is troublesome. As long as we know the corresponding Laws, we just need to infuse the correct ones. Without that knowledge, we certainly cannot test them one by one.”

Logan, plagued with a headache, thought he had everything under control but now faced an even greater insurmountable challenge—one that could be said to be unsolvable.

“Didn’t you say that the Runes also have corresponding forces of the Law? Can we deduce them from the Runes? As for the Seal, it really can’t be meddled with.”

Seeing Logan at his wit’s end, Oliver Bennett offered advice; their only strategy now was to work from the Seal itself—elsewhere, help was unlikely.

Logan waved his hand dismissively—if that were possible, wouldn’t he have figured it out earlier? The force of the Law on the Runes was nothing but a faint resonance, and since Logan had only cultivated the Thunder and Lightning Laws, perhaps he could discern them if he cultivated all the Laws.

“There are many capable people in this world. Let’s wait for the Blackwood City Master to return to see if any recruited individuals have a solution. I will also think it over carefully in the next two days.”

Logan sighed. There were still eight Runes on the Seal, signaling there were several days before it faced imminent destruction. Since the Seal was outlined by Laws, it must be constructed from the most basic Laws as the foundation, with the rest merely enhancing it. Thus, the first few Runes that fell weren’t too critical—as long as the foundational Laws continued to function.

“We have no other choice!” Oliver Bennett agreed, and afterwards, the two returned to the Immortal Celestial Gate. Oliver Bennett went off to handle affairs, while Logan wandered around the Sect—unwilling to let the issue weigh on his mind. Since he could not solve it, why not put it aside?n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
