240 Ch. 240 Anxia Wanted Elliot To Trust Her
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but… thanks for taking care of my son when my mom wasn’t there for him.”
Elliot and Jamie looked at Anxia in surprise because they didn’t expect Anxia would express her gratitude to the mute woman.
From the first time Jamie met Anxia, ??as soon as the girl entered the room, Jamie felt an aura of hostility from Anxia. She knew Anxia didn’t like her presence and wished she would leave the room whenever Anxia came to visit her father.
Same with Jamie, Elliot did not expect Anxia to have a change of heart toward Jamie—someone who had occupied his heart for as long as he could remember.
Just before Elliot met his parents in London, the number one person in Elliot’s heart was Jamie. But after meeting his biological parents in London, although their meeting was brief, Elliot already liked his parents very much and wished he could live with them.
In just an instant, the first position in his heart changed, and those who occupied it were his father and mother—specifically… his father. He had never felt the figure of a father, considering the ones who took care of him and taught him were the figure of a mother—Loraine Shu, Jamie, Mei Yin, and a nanny. None of them was a father figure he yearned for. Of course, his birth mother outmatched these four mothers.
And when his eyes caught sight of Richard… that’s when Elliot immediately fell in love and wanted to hug his father’s feet. But he restrained himself so that two adults who didn’t know him didn’t look at him strangely.
The last thing he wanted to do was make his parents hate him the first time they met. Therefore, Elliot tried his best not to pretend to know them and pretend to be close to them. But in the end, Elliot couldn’t stand it, and his hand moved on its own to touch his father’s hand, which looked so big.
His father, Richard, looked so dashing, charming, and charismatic. He was a bit envious of Lori because his younger sister’s face looked more like his father’s while he... Elliot felt he didn’t have any resemblance to his father.
.....
He suddenly worried that his father would not acknowledge him as a son. What if Richard didn’t want to accept him because he didn’t have the same face as Richard?
Elliot wanted to hold the man’s hand further at that time but decided to turn back when Nanny came to pick him up. It was as if he didn’t want to go home and tried to tell them he was their son, but…
He had to return home because he didn’t want to leave Jamie alone. He also believed his grandfather would somehow wake up from his coma phase.
Even though he wanted to live with his parents… with his real family, Elliot could not sleep well thinking about his aunt Jamie, who would constantly be tormented by his grandmother whenever the older woman received terrible news.
Elliot knew his importance in his grandmother’s life even though he didn’t know what made him valuable. It explained why he was reluctant to leave if Jamie decided to stay—even if Anxia would invite him to go with her.
And now… when he saw the change in his mother, who no longer looked at Jamie like an enemy, Elliot couldn’t hide his joy.
He stood up and ran to hug his mother’s waist tightly.
“Thank you, mama.”
Anxia sighed resignedly, hearing her son thank her. She had no idea how much Jamie’s presence in his son’s life meant, but now she did. Elliot had been worried that she would never like Jamie, so the boy could not act freely in her presence.
Now she understood Richard’s desire for wanting her complete trust as she also wanted the same thing from her son. Anxia wished Elliot to believe her and tell her everything that was on this little boy’s mind.
She wanted to understand what a five-year-old boy was worried about and afraid of when children his age should be having fun and not thinking about anything other than playing.
Anxia didn’t know what happened during Elliot’s growth here, but she knew… her son’s personality and ability to react and lie fluently must have been shaped by something.
Anxia let go of her son’s embrace, sat on a chair, settled Elliot on her thighs, and hugged the child tightly.
“I didn’t know you loved Jamie that much, and I don’t know what you’ve been through so far to make you such a wonderful child. I believe in your judgment of a person’s character—I will accept her presence if you cherish her that much.”
Elliot smiled and pulled his head towards hers to kiss her cheek.
Receiving the unexpected kiss made Anxia’s eyes light up, and she finally returned her son’s kiss by placing her lips on her son’s forehead.
Anxia could feel the emotion in Jamie’s brown eyes, making her want to approach the woman. She put her son down and walked towards Jamie, making the mute woman confused and shocked.
Jamie’s eyes widened in shock while Elliot’s smile grew wider as Anxia hugged Jamie tightly.
“Thank you for everything. Thank you for accompanying and caring for my father and my son. They really need it.”
Jamie’s brown eyes glistened, and her hands rose to return the hug. The way Jamie patted her on the back was unique—the hand patted her upper back three times, then shifted lower to above her hips and repeated it from above three times.
Anxia’s smile vanished instantly, feeling the mute woman’s tapping and caressing. She loosened her grip and looked into those pair of brown eyes with curious eyes.
“Jamie, can I ask you something?”
Jamie nodded and smiled gently at her, making Anxia swallow hard with a trembling heart.
“What do you think the meaning of the house is?”
The woman’s gaze softened, and her smile grew wider as she began to answer her with her hand gestures. Elliot, who understood Jamie’s meaning, immediately interpreted it and responded.
Anxia’s footsteps retreated when she heard the answer, and immediately she felt cold sweat on her back and tried to recall the moment when she first met this mute woman.
But she didn’t remember much, given that she didn’t care about this woman in the slightest. Her head turned dizzy, and Elliot, who noticed it, became worried.
“Mama? Are you okay?”
Not only was Elliot worried for him, but Jamie… also looked at her with genuine concern, tightening her throat.
