Chapter 367: Your Ego Knows No Bounds

Seven Sins System Chapter 367. Your Ego Knows No Bounds

Once again, there she was—Puriel, across the room, eyes locked on me like she was seeing something new. Everyone else had cleared out, leaving just the two of us in this weird standoff.

It wasn't the usual hostility I was used to from her. Instead, her gaze had this mysterious edge to it, making me wonder what was running through her head. The air felt charged, like there were a million things she wanted to say but just couldn't find the words.

Trying to shake off the tension, I rolled my eyes and muttered to myself, "What's her deal?" as I grabbed my bag and headed for the door.

But to my surprise, Puriel caught up and started walking right beside me. The corridor was nearly silent, just our footsteps echoing off the walls, adding to the whole movie-like drama of it all.

Finally, I couldn't take the silence anymore. "Cut the act. If you've got something to say, just spit it out," I snapped without looking at her, the irritation clear in my voice.

But she didn't say anything right away, which just ramped up the anticipation.

Then, out of nowhere, I threw a curveball to break the ice. "Or have you fallen in love with me? That's why you can't stop staring?" I said with a heavy dose of sarcasm, hoping to catch her off guard.

I got a reaction alright. Puriel shot me a sharp look, clearly not amused. "Your joke is getting lame, Azrael. It's hardly funny anymore," she shot back, the annoyance obvious in her tone.

"Dr. Allen," I corrected her with a smirk, raising an eyebrow. "Remember, it's Dr. Allen when we're out here, not my real name," I teased, keeping the banter light. "And FYI, it wasn't meant to be a joke."

We kept walking, the tension thick. "Then what is it?" she pressed, her curiosity piqued.

"Just a question. A real one," I replied, playing it cool and vague, loving the intrigue it sparked in her.

She looked totally thrown off, confusion written all over her face.

"So? What's really on your mind?" I pushed, looking for some straight answers this time.

After a moment, Puriel regained her composure. "Nothing much. Just surprised you actually taught her seriously," she admitted, still seeming a bit shocked.

I couldn't help but laugh. "You've watched us train multiple times. What took you so long to notice? A bit slow, aren't we?" I teased, throwing a playful jab her way.

She brushed it off. "I like to watch a few times before making up my mind," she replied coolly. "But honestly, your training methods are too harsh. I'm not a fan."

Our banter continued as we strolled through the empty corridor. "Well, survival is harsh. I'm prepping them for real life, not a tea party. Your soft approach won't survive a real fight," I countered, my tone firm with conviction.

I paused, about to say I didn't need her opinion but chose a smoother exit. Clearing my throat, I added, "Anyway, now you know why my soldiers are top-notch. And for the record, I didn't ask for your opinion."

"I'm just saying," she held her ground, a hint of defiance in her voice. "Remember, they're humans, not demons," she pointed out, emphasizing our different approaches.

"If they were demons, I'd push them even harder," I said, my steps quickening.

She kept up, following a few steps behind, which was starting to get on my nerves.

Stopping suddenly, I spun around to face her. "You know, we're not even in the same dorm. You really should stop tailing me like some creepy stalker."

"I just want to make sure you don't stir up any trouble," she replied firmly, her gaze unwavering.

I rolled my eyes again, "Trouble is my middle name, sweetheart."

Then, poking fun one more time, I smirked, "Or maybe, just maybe, you've fallen for me? Happens to the best of us."

Her face showed a mix of annoyance and disbelief. "Please, your ego's out of control. Not everyone's charmed by you," she said, trying to seem indifferent.

Laughing, I just shook my head, "Yet here you are, still following me. Can't resist the charm, huh?"n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
